Both sides would be fairly happy at quarter time, Goulding on two fouls inside three minutes is not great.

Door still slightly open for Melbourne but going to need to improve greatly. Vickerman subbing in out to frequently. Hickey very good again, Blanchfield as well, Lee been good, Krebs useful, Illi as well but united been average.

Haven't really looked to the hawks during the season. How have they got 4 imports? Harvey, Kell, Days, Lee

As Lee is from Asia he's not considered an import.

Melbourne too good. Broke hawks defence down in the end. Hickey lost the plot a little in q4 which didn't help hawks cause. Hope does tatum not play harvey when chatting the game though. Seems odd

Hawks are one of the highest scoring teams in NBL history (per minute), weapons everywhere. To shut them down like that is massive.

Marcus Lee always very underrated. The high minuses of Froling, Kell and Lo Bul tells you a lot. The series not over but united will be very happy.

You can be an offensive juggernaut but mostly teams that play the best D win championships. Long way to go but hawks clearly wounded.

They deserved favouritism but they'll have to lift and play very good basketball to overcome a tough, physical, experienced United group. Hawks are capable of that, but pressure is on now.

Hickey and Hawks coaching staff not picking up on Marcus Lee zoning off him for majority of the 4th Qtr is why I think Tatum might struggle either him or his coaching staff didn't pick up on it.

Hickey unable to get Kell involved in this moment of the game shifted the momentum to United.

Lee zoning of Davo should of meant more pitch and follow/DHO with Kell with any under being flipped into a ball screen to punish Lee standing in the mid range, BUT instead Davo thought it was his time to shine and took 5 crazy no pass or 1 pass shots.

United on the reverse put Delly & CG into ball screens and stuck white in the opposite corner to flush out any over helping or back turning, punishing doubling CG and Vickerman stuck with Delly despite a shakey start missing his first 3-5 shots.

Game 2 will be good to see if united stick with this plan from the beginning, does Harvey lighting it up change Vickermans plan of taking at one not both on the defensive end. Loe should come off the bench in patches when Olbric is the at the 5 instead of Sam

I'm sure if Tatum takes more input from Matt Flinn during Game 2 the Hawks will get over the line.

I'm not certain Matt Flinn is the answer to coaching.

To long between games, between the fiba break and now GF dragging out, too many neutrals have moved on. Surely one game between games is enough. I’d think if you get first you should get two at home two away and one at home if required. Such a great season dragged out.
