Will that REALLY help his chances of making the Boomers one last time?

Not sure a Kings team under Goorj is the right one to perform under to get to LA in 2028, unless Delly knows Bogut is the likely next coach in waiting. Still supposedly United were only offering him a 1 year deal so can understand he had to go elsewhere.

Traitor!

Anywhere but Sydney.

I'm surprised United offered one year only.

Delly relies and smarts and skills rather than athletic prowess or speed, and I can see him contributing until an old age. Think Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Shane Heal.

Could the "long-term contract" be partly paid for by future part ownership (a la Bogut?)(and why not?)?

As for his Boomer's aspirations, even without Goorj's official influence on things Boomer's-related, unofficially his opinions would still be heard(count on it! it is Goorjian), Boges and Longley are official and King's part owners and assistant coaches to the Kings and Boomers. Should be able to conjure up some support around WC and Olympic times (Will still have to earn a spot but he will be in the best place to impress)!

A couple of big wins there for Delly. What seemed as 4 great
opportunities to begin with, probably came down to an easy choice in the end.

[Sincere thanks are extended to hindsight!]

Won't be a problem for United they'll likely have a better roster next season.

Well Dash Daniels wanted a Next Star opportunity - he's certainly got one now.

A lot of excitement for a guard that averaged 11ppg on 43% and 7 assists on a high powered United offence. Sure he brings those leadership skills, but that negates Brian's cluelessness, what are they going to do with imports. Need a big desperately, but will have to go with a scorer in the backcourt as well. Brian will most likely push for a scoring 3 as well.
Longley and Bogut will have some influence in the Boomers, can't see that being enough to get Delly a recall.
Will be fun watching dellys interactions with Brian though. And Boguts.

Love it Phantom. I still can't believe that someone with the nous of Bogut was OK with Brian as coach. Maybe them working together will see this relationship blow up. I can't see them agreeing on anything.

I don't know if Noi has an out, but nothing either Sydney or Noi have said since the season ended gives me a lot of confidence he'll be back - looking for a bigger role and no doubt more $$$.

Delly's importance is as much about the off the court stuff as it is anything he does on the court. Not sure if that's worth the $$$ on a multi-year deal, but I'm reasonably happy with the signing and should be the culture boost we need after the past couple of seasons. With Cooks/Kuol/Delly all making big coin what we end up doing with imports is going to be interesting. Still desperately need to get bigger and we're going to need a wing who is able to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

"The 34-year-old has links to Brian Goorjian and Andrew Bogut in the national setup, and would join a star-studded roster, including already contracted stars Xavier Cooks, Bul Kuol, Jaylin Galloway and Shaun Bruce."

Shaun Bruce a star? Lucky Delly. No mention of Kouat Noi, oversight or deliberately omitted? He's still got 2 years left on his deal but is playing quite well in China.

From today's Age, and obv spin
"Just last month, Goorjian appointed Dellavedova's former Boomers teammate Andrew Bogut as an assistant coach."

Yeah, right. No doubt Brian was in total control of the situation.

Is Tomlinson also expected to return? Puzzling hire to begin with, maybe got the job so Brian had someone to play snap with on the road. And if anyone used to watch Dad's Army, can see him saying "Do you think that's wise sir?" to Brian's Captain Mainwaring in timeouts.
Even got it in my head now Brian saying "You stupid boy" to Cooks after he got caught.
If they get off to a bad start can see Brian actually getting sacked, not even a face saving stepping down for personal reasons etc.

Surely if Boges there Billy T is gone? Strange how last season Bill seemed to do all the subs & if Goorg didn't like it he overruled. Is this a break up of the boys club?

I just can't imagine a Tomlinson-less Goorjian, can you? They're joined at the hip. They are so close that when Goorj left Illawarra and left his assistant to be the new HC, I thought that had to be BillyT, until I heard about this long-time assistant coach, Jackomis.

May be the same exit strategy for BrianG. Leave a club (his choice or not) in the hands of his AC, Boges, and BrainG and BillyT can fast forward to their next gig.

Brisbane? If Lash gets "flicked"?

If anything Delly makes the kings a little more likeable.

Goorjian won't go to Brisbane - they don’t spend enough for his ambitions

Thanks, Hoopie. I'm glad to hear that. Goorjian might still be better than Schueller but not who the Bullets need. Could have offered Cairns, but they haven't made fools of themselves yet so don't deserve to get BrianG and BillyT.
