Dyson Daniels camp in perth

Just saw there's a Dyson Daniels camp at Ace Ballerz this August in perth. About time we got some proper NBA talent over here. Should be solid for the younger guys — good chance to see how real D is played and from someone who’s actually made it. Hopefully more of this kind of thing starts happening locally, we need it here!!

Correct me if I'm wrong it's less than 2 hours long for $350 an BYO lunch?

Yep, I'm sure those couple of hours will pass on his genetics as well. Will probably be same drills the kids get at their clubs currently and will have other coaches doing the actual instructions during the camp whilst he walks around.

Learning from one of the best defenders in the nba and one of our best Boomers? It should be a premium price.

So many tall poppy fans on this forum.

Totally agree, @NthGiants — Perth people are always saying "we never get anyone good here," and then when someone does come, they complain it's too expensive or not worth it. We’ve gotta stop with the negativity. This guy’s craft and insight are legit — I just booked tickets for my girls to learn from the Break Barrier Thief!

He ain't that rich!- take into account taxes, cost of living/lifestyle in USA, Managers/Agent/Clingon fees and then sending something home to M+D not much left! Plus good on him, he did the hard yards and deserves it all.

Pray tell, what would they learn from him that they wouldn't learn from a good coach? Defensive slides, quick hands, anticipation?
It's like going to a Curry camp for a couple of hours and becoming a great shooter, or a Shaq camp and learning how to dunk on people.
And ain't that rich? Sending money home to mum and dad so he's nearly penniless? Shit, you'd better start a go fund me page for him and a lot of NBA players, the struggle is real! I know when Giddey has his camps in Adelaide they have to slip him a couple of sausage rolls for lunch because Warwick didn't give him his allowance that week.
After taxes and agent fees he earns around $4 million, even if he madly spends on these hangers on and a million or two to mum and dad, he's still a millionaire. If anything he probably wouldn't take the money from this camp, it'll go to the other coaches and staff. It's great to see him showing his face at a camp, but it's very unlikely the kids will be shown any great secret into becoming a great defender that isn't already known. But they'll probably get a really cool t-shirt.

It's not expensive but at the same you wouldn't learn much from him, essentially the payment is for meeting the player.

Phantom sounds like that local bitter old coach who has been stuck at the same association for decades.

NthGiants sounds like the delusional parent that thinks throwing money around for their kid will make them a better player.
Please elaborate what amazing secrets DD will pass on in this camp? Will be exactly the same defensive stuff most recent coaches teach.
But you'll be able to bitch how your kid should be playing a higher div because they're now a defensive expert because they attended the Dyson Daniels camp.

Out of interest had a look at the site.

2024-25 NBA Most Improved Dyson Daniels is coming to Perth W.A!.
This will be an exclusive one time basketball camp with the best defender in the NBA.
The camp format will start with a in depth chat with the youngest player ever to record 200+ steals in an NBA season.
Then small group skills stations visited by Daniels, followed by some time for photos and signatures.

So at least it's honest, DD won't do any actual coaching, but will "visit" the stations.
