Patty Mills new Rainbow Warriors GM

New GM of the University of Hawaii Men's Team. Doesn't look like he'll be playing here or anywhere.

Maybe, just maybe they meant Danny Mills. He is the more likely Mills to get that post, wouldn't you think?

Don't know what this may mean for any rumoured involvement in the syndicate buying the Taipans. If it's just some financial backing will likely have little bearing.

The star as a college "GM" thing has been something that has happened a bit recently. Doesnt necessarily mean its a full time gig in a lot of cases - or even a significant part time one. For example Shaq has recently been announced as GM of Sacramento State.

Patty has a house on the North Shore and is going to be become a Father soon, so probably adds more context to the decision.

I'm guessing this is a figurehead, spokesperson type role more than anything, and doesn't necessarily mean the end of his playing career.

Agreed LV, but it also indicates a change of focus which usually means it's not far away.

Steph Curry also has the same role at Davidson I believe.

Also Woj does the role at St Bonaventure, but I suspect that is more hands on. It's mostly a marketing move for recruitment.

I don't think this precludes him from signing with a team in the NBL, depends how involved he is.

It's as close you can get to Australia while still being in America.

If I'm not mistaken they've had a few Aussies on their roster, might just be about recruiting.
Unlike Ingles who looks like his bodies given up, Mills still can play decent minutes. Will he wants to end his career actually playing or as a mentor on an NBA bench. Or will he just pull the pin and enjoy the Hawaiian lifestyle with family. But that would definitely end his boomers career, could actually have been useful even though next Olympics is so far away.

"I'm deeply honored to join the University of Hawai'i basketball program as the new General Manager." Mills said. "This role is not only a professional milestone, but a personal one as well.

"My connection to UH began in 2007 but since becoming a member of the North Shore community, I've felt a genuine sense of belonging that reminds me so much of home. I'm truly grateful to be embraced by this community, and I'm committed to honoring that connection by serving our program and representing the values we hold dear."

Mills played collegiate basketball at Saint Mary's (CA), but has ties to Hawai'i. According to the report from the university's website, Mills will "support student-athlete mentorship and development, while contributing to key areas including recruiting, fundraising, and community engagement."

Biwali Bayles played there I think Owen Hulland did too. What a disappointment Hulland turned out to be, massive unit who theoretically could've been the Shaq of the NBL but doesn't like the physical stuff and prefers to camp out at the 3 point line.
