Markquis Nowell to Perth Wildcats?

Got a few mates over at Summer League and heard some interesting whispers — apparently the Perth Wildcats are seriously eyeing Markquis Nowell as their next point guard. Nothing confirmed yet, but it sounds like they're having legit conversations. Not sure how it'll all play out, but stay tuned!

I watched a lot of this guy last season because he played with McVeigh in Rio Grande.

He looked very solid, and his stats back it up

16.1ppg
3rpg
8.3apg

Shot 41% from the field, 37% from 3 and 78% from the line

At 5.7ft Short as guards go but seems to use that to his advantage is creating steals. He has a deeper 3 point shot that Cotton which is probably needed for being a bit undersized.

Is they could snag that backcourt that would be solid - Nowell and McVeigh!

5'7?!?!

While height is an issue - I'm more concerned who they are signing to finalise the front court as that should determine who they sign in the final import spot.

Seen a lot of him as well - he is a dawg, was probably the best college player in the nation during March Madness 2023 with Kansas State.

Everyone will look at the height but the NBL has a plethora of small guards + Sunday Dech next to him will help a lot.

MVP contender if Perth pulled this signing off imo.

No new player to the NBL is an MVP contender before they've played a game here. He could be good and equally he could be a dud. At 5'7" not likely to be an MVP candidate see Jordon Crawford. Just too small and too easy to exploit.

I like his stats for sure, but this league probably plays more defense than the G-League (a lot more) so I would prefer a taller guard. Cotton was a liability defending against players like Golding and he is 6.1
