shaq at age 35 and beyond?

shaq signed a 5 year contract last year.when he comes to the end of his contract for example like at age 34 35 36 what type of player will he be and will he be dominating? i rekon its almost at that stage where miami need to draft or sign a young big man and bring the old fat barstad off the bench.shaqs not getting any younger or fitter.bring him off the bench.they have alonzo and shaq all into there mid 30's.what are management thinking?

yeah cant wait for thedoctor to post.odds are he will be the 1st or 2nd replyer in this thread.

What are the Heat thinking? They are thinking of the now and not of the future. There is nothing wrong with this, every serious franchise has to reach a point when it is going after a championship aggresivly right now and not waiting anymore for young talent to develop. It's risky, but so is building a young team.

The five year deal is not about the team in five years time, that is tomorrow's problem. That is what Shaq wanted and the Heat are willing to give it to him, no matter what problems it causes in a few years time. The Heat have a window of opportunity with Shaq and co., but it closes more every year.

I think the Heat were on the right track last year, but they have messed things up this season. Last years Heat team was 7 minutes from reaching the Big Gig. Personally I wouldn't of blown the team apart. Another year together, plus the addition of Wade having a years worth of experience, Zo stepping it up and the bench players all playing within the system would go gone just as far this season.

I have no problem with Shaq getting the five extra, but I do think signed headcases in White Chocolate, Tone and The Glove is definately a negative.

Walker is already complaining, Wade has had a whinge already, Shaq is out and there record isn't good for a team with this much talent, something will give and it probably will be SVG. Riley to be the headcoach by All-Star game.

If the Heat did signed Shaq to an extension you can bet another team would of. Cuban would of porned some more shares to get the Diesel to Dallas. Dirk and Shaq, that's more scarier than Shaq and Wade.

Man, how quickly you forget.

Shaq was VERY close (a couple of votes) off MVP last year. Yes, he is getting older and his athletiscism is dwindling, but he can still be massive in the paint for the next couple of seasons. He doesn't need to score 25 a game, he can score 15 a game and still create heaps of shots for everyone else...

shaq has proved with every team hes on that he makes team mates better. He's an intelligent player and i can see him changing his game as he gets older, and adopts to what the team needs. Chamberlain did it, he went from dominant scorer, to pass first center, to hard nosed defensive minded player, and he brought a championshp to his team. miami have still got a few more years opportunity for a ship, but can they defeat a full strength san antonio.
