Great teamplay in the first half. Lost interest in the third quarter. I tipped them by 7 and could see that NZ were going to come back. If Melzer had made that tip-in in the last second I would've been on the mark!
I thought Nashy was great: 13/8/3 in 25 minutes.
We're at full strength. They've been missing a forward all season. It's good to get the win, but I'd rather we didn't have an 18-31 third quarter against the second-worst team in the league on our home court. Also, 44-65 on the boards, and we gave them an extra 20 attempts from the field.
Apart from the great team play early in the game, the other highlight was probably the crowd - 5,373 for a fairly low-key game against a pretty quiet opposition, and on a Wednesday night. Not many teams have had crowds like that in the NBL this season.

great statement phil u dropped paul rees. then you give out your usual 4 DNP's to the bench players. give them a chance phil just as you give farley his.

Interesting stat : Brian Green was 1 assist off a triple double by 3/4 time. He'd have been the first player in history to have done that. Fortunately for the 6ers, he decided not to pass in the final Q, on his way to 6/25 shooting, and never achieved his triple double.

There was a specific reason for Reesy not suiting, but I'm not sure if it's meant to be public.

you cant do that to us isaac! also apart from his missed shots and a few turnovers i thought hill looked better and made some nice passes. It was strange that without rees phil gave no time to any of the young guys. At the half i thought willie looked like he was getting that cocky streak back but was well held/did not play great in the 2nd half. Overall its another win so thats all that matters.

Rees didn't play tonight because he didn't practice well in the lead up to tonight's game. This question was asked of Breheny tonight after the game upstairs. If he wants to get back into the team, he has too step up his game and play as well as he did in the first half of the season.

That's the public version, but Breheny has a craftier reason in addition.

We should have gone on with the half time lead, but at the same time, New zealand are much better then there record shows, and showed up to play in the second half.
Not sure what to think anymore, the Sixers never look good on the court, but sit pretty or atleast moderatley attractive in third! So maybe if things get rolling late in the season, some fate wouldnt go a stray, as somehow that lacklustre heart keeps beating.
Maher cant keep missing open 3's like he has never been open before, so when that consistantly falls again, we could be serious contenders.

In protest of Reesy being dropped the Posse did not attend last night's game.
Actually, we had training last night, but I still think it sucks.
Good coaching move though. Will put everyone on notice leading into the finals.

First half was great.....excellent teamwork and passing. I think we had 15 assists at half time so that was a great sign of the guys getting back to the way we play best. Willie looked to be back to his old self at times and actually played some very good D as well....Then half time happened and after that we were back to being well below par - Why? Even Phil seeemed a bit pissed at times with the way things were going and benched a coiuple of players who didnt look happy about it! In the end I thought we were always going to get up but playing a 3rd 1/4 like that was shocking. If we were seriously in the running for the championship we should have buried them by 40!
And come on Isaac whats the real reason behind Reesy not suiting up?

I remember years ago when Brett Maher was a young 36er I got the feeling his game needed a lift in one area - passing. That was pretty much the only time he caused a turnover in his early days. Maybe rookie nerves?
I watch Hill now and I think his 'area for improvement' is his dribbling with the ball so far away from his body. Looks like some of the opposition have picked up on this too judging by a few recent steals. It's come very close to ball carrying in a couple of cases with the ball so high up...what do you think??

The first half was great, but the effort overall on in the third and the amount of offensive rebounds (32?) we gave up was terrible.
Nash was excellent, and Maher showed his poise and class in the final term. Dusty should have been made to shoot free throws for 10 hours today, Brad Hill 3 pointers for 8, and the whole team should have to watch replays of giving away FOUR offensive rebounds on free throws. Mika Vukona is a great rebounder but one of the worst free throw shooters EVER and so you have to be on your toes when he's at the line.
Positive crowd number, and the ball movement in the first half was great.
will the rees didnt play be made public or should the public just continue to think he isnt playing because he is not training well like we are being told?
