Stats- why the teams in the play-offs deserve to b

Here's some statistics from the NBL

Points per game:

1. Cortez Groves 24.2 Hawks 4th
2. Chris Anstey 22.2 Tigers 2nd
3. CJ Bruton 20.4 Kings 1st
4. Martin Cattalini 20.3 Taipans 5th
5. Shawn Redhage 20.2 Wildcats 7th

The entire top 5 are in teams that will make the finals.
3 of the players came back to the NBL competition this year.
Redhage got released from New Zealand and is performing better. Maybe the Breakers don't handle there players well?

Farley averaged 19.3 points a game, .2 ahead of Black from the Bullets.

The top 6 best foul shooters in the league are in thee finals.
The top 4 teams in field goal percentages are in the finals.
The top 10 (and counting) players in 3pt percentage are part of teams in the finals.
The top 10 players in assists are in finals teams.
The top 3 players in fouling are from non- playoffs making teams.

Just shows, that the teams with a major player, players who share the ball, teams that shoot well are going to make the finals.

Townsville was the closest team to any other making the finals in the stats and led total rebounds. Just shows that maybe Rillie needs to stand up and Newley. Also share the ball more and get better field goal percentage.
Then they might have been in the finals, or at least be in the race when the season draws to a close.

Maybe replacing Stacker might be a good idea.

I don't really see your point.

It's a 11 team competition with 8 making finals, so you would think the top players in nearly every statistical category will be seeing finals action?

The only exception would be an outstanding player on a shit team - ie Brian Wethers last year led the league in scoring (or was top 2, pretty sure he led)

DJ is right, although u would expect someone from another team to feature SOMEWHERE in some of those categories. You didnt mention rebounds though. What about that one?

As i said before crocodiles led the total rebounds.

Then the Taipans then Breakers.

4 Anstey Tigers
5 Pero Razorbacks
6 McKinnon Bullets
7 Hinder Pirates
8 Rychart Sixers

The top few teams aren't that good. Maybe Taipans but other than hat the Breakers and Crocodiles might need to get more scoring rather than rebounding.

Are you studying statistics at Uni? A lot of work doing all that I imagine. In the end it will still come down to who plays best on the night (barring injuries). Any of the teams in the top 8 could beat each other on their night.
