Everyone knows that a teams record is a big factor of MVP, but we surely the impact the player on the teams record should hold more weight than the teams record itself. Saying Chauncey Billups is the reason they are 38-6 is taking credit away from the other 4 starters. MVP is an individual award and Kobe is single handedly leading a projected lottery team into the playoffs.

When the pistons win the championship in 4 or 5 games im sure they won't mind if Chauncey Billups doesnt win MVP. Im not saying Kobe is MVP hands down i think Nash has a very strong chance of winning it at this stage however personally i think to this point in the season Kobe's amazing performances warrant a big look in at the MVP

What really does the MVP describe.

The Player who is the most valuable to the League in terms of Best Player

or

The Player who is the most valuable on one of the best teams in the League

If you can come up with the answer than I think you will have an answer for the Chancey/Kobe Debate

Generally the teams record has a big say in it but this year i think the Pistons contributions are so even across the board that Billups shouldn't get it, as he is only marginally the best player and any given player can be the best each night. Saying that, once again taking nothing away from Chauncey he's been outstanding this year and has really turned his career around.
