Smyth: Geared up for finals

Phil Smyth has been given a bit of a spot in the paper today, outlining his NBL finals predictions for the opening games.

He's tipping Brisbane to overcome Perth, despite dropping three straight to the Wildcats this season. And he's picked the Pirates to lose in Cairns, leaving the Taipans as probable opposition for Adelaide on Saturday night.

The Pura Milk 36ers will be waiting and so will our captain Brett Maher.

He is fully over his injury and ready to go. At this stage he is going to play. Dusty Rychart is showing no ill effects from his groin injury after playing in Brisbane last weekend and having no pain the morning after.

The team is focused and realises the situation we are in. A loss sends us out of the chance to compete for a grand final berth. Our focus this week will be on preparing ourselves so everyone performs at their best on Saturday.

The training sessions are cut back to freshen us up. The shooting sessions are sharper and already the energy among the team is obvious.
I think this is about as excited as Phil gets!
It's finals - bring it on.
Anyone not tipping Brisbane and Cairns to win tonight and tomorrow?
