I broke the story about the BASA board being sacked.

The women's team will no longer be known as the Fellas, Fellas Gift's have decided to pull the pin on their $60/year sponsorship.
Mike Dawes already knows about this but is sitting on it for some reason.

The Fellas sponsorship was reported to be a multi year sponsorship. Can they back out of it early?
Thank god.
Now get a sponsor who doesn't want to rename the team.
However they did get the publicity...

don't know where u got $60/year figure from.
my sources tell me $20/year for 3 years... and it was this figure that made the name change hurt so much.
hopefully next time such a drastic change is on the cards, the right peoples' advice will be sought. for instance, those who have been around the scene for more than 3 days and know a little bit about basketball in south australia...
They better not be called the bikies or hellsangles or the males or the farmers

Nova FM is reporting that Fellas have signed on again as major sponsor with naming rites.
SAFM have said that Fellas haven't signed again and the name is going to revert to Lightning

My wife is a Season Ticket Holder of the "Lightning" & when I pointed out the Fella's Gifts store to her at Marion, her first comment was why doesn't it mention the Sponsorship anywhere in the Store!
My point is that if a season ticket holder doesn't even know what store is the major sponsor and can't identify it, how the hell did they expect people to support them.
Never saw any displays or anything at any home games I went to, surely something cheap from them, e.g. shot glasses etc., would have been better prizes than the "Out of Print" stuff that Peter Walsh (ABC) gives to MVP's from each team.
