In under 20 div 1 mens, Norwood versus West, Norwood had the game post poned due to the ABL game being played later today. Lame.

Have they got many players who actually get on in the ABL games?

Thats what I thought, hence the lameness.

Not true. Norwood and West both wanted to play, and both teams turned up ready to play. It was WOODVILLE who had the game postponed as they supposedly needed the court for 3pm ABA game. The game would have been finished by 2.30pm anyway, and both teams offered to play on the other court so that the main court was free. So direct all "lame" comments to Woodville, not to either of the clubs involved.

So the ABA teams would only have 30 mins to get ready, is what you're saying? ABA is far more important than u20's. Don't direct your comments at woodville, they didn't ask for the GF's to be that day.

its would have been to set up the court ie score benches seating etc which takes a while to do. not for the abl to warm up or anything.

You can't spell 'you're'

but whatever

if you can set up an ABA match in 30 mins, i'm sure they would love to hear from you

What about U21 girls finals???

South have a catch up game to play - 7 days after the end off teh minor round - how the hell do you prepare for finals with a situation like that?

The seating was set up already - only 2 courts were operating today. The only difference was that the seating was on the opposite side (behind the benches) rather than on the other side as is usually the case with Woodville home games. Whoever is to blame, it is one big stuff up when both teams turn up ready to play a GF only to be told they can't.

How many times do you need to post that Anthony? Sturt won because they played better on the day. They're a good side & played a good game while North looked under prepared & played a poor game.

Irrelevant side note - BJ's attire was very smooth... the NBA contract awaits, I'm sure.

Now, will you stop posting the same damn question?

I find it funny that the only people sticking up for the decision to postpone the u/20 GF are both from Woodville. Can't the ABL game be postponed by half an hour? And how come they wouldn't let Norwood and West play on court 1?

How does a clash like this happen?
Juniors were (to my knowledge) confirmed to be on that date before Christmas. Why use the Dome on the Sunday for ABL then? And if it was completely & utterly unavoidable, why were the two teams only notified a few minutes before game time?

I struggle to grasp how an organisation can be so.... disorganised.

Just one faux pas in another disappointingly run junior final day.

Hoop,

It's easy to blame the 'organisation' when you don't have all the facts.

Trying asking someone within that same organisation and I'm sure they'll let you know exactly what happened and who was to blame for the teams showing up. Or more to the point which two clubs were to blame.

So anonomous, what are the facts? I was at the stadium and the reasons that the game was going to be posponed weren't relevent.

ie U/20's needing to play ABA.

If they weren't going to play, then why have them on the program.

Why was the ABL played on Junior Grand Final Day. Same reason as there were two other ABL Games played on the Sunday of the first Round. One of the Refs got married Saturday Night & there would not have been enough ABL quality refs available to cover 5 games on the one night

Forget the reasons for under 20's not being allowed to play their championship game.None of them seemed to be valid and if they were we should have been told about them weeks ago and the venue should have been changed. The BASA official we asked had a range of vague reasons. He blamed the Woodville coach because he wouldn't let us use the other court and the fact that under 20's players may be needed to play ABL (they weren't)and best of all that they thought North would have won the final and then there wouldn't have been a problem because they were were not playing ABL that day! Someone else told us that BASA had been aware of this clash for a fortnight.
But the reasons are not important. What is important is the value placed on a whole season of games played by under 20's and all the players who played them... None. Where does the ABL get their players from? Didn't they all have to play under 20's? There were kids who risked their jobs because they could't work on Sunday just to be told that this game wasn't important enough to be played. No wonder we lose so many players at this level and no wonder basketball in South Australia is in the mess it is!

im not sticking up for it, just giving you the reason that the choice would have been made.they could not have played on court 1 because the cables all go into the floor on court 1. but they could have played on the middle court i think personally and left the seats till last. while setting up the score benches.
