ABA Review, Week 4

Men

Woodville Warriors broke the drought giving them their first win for the season. After trailing the Rockets by four points at half time the Warriors stepped up their intensity with Andrew Puddifoot leading the way with a game-high 27 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals, 2assists and 2 blocks. Nick Hambour was again solid for North with 21 points and 19 rebounds.
Forestville Eagles remain undefeated after withstanding a 31-15 comeback from the Mavericks in the third quarter.
The closest game in which there were frequent lead changes resulted in the Norwood Flames defeating the Bearcats.

Sturt Sabres and Southern Tigers had comfortable wins against the Panthers and Lions respectively. Oscar Forman and Brad Gerlach played key roles for their teams.
Women
All of the women's games were competitive, but with the favoured teams successful.
Norwood Flames held a 2-point lead going into the final quarter but were over-run by West Adelaide Bearcats.
After trailing in the first quarter, Sturt Sabres established their superiority over the final three quarters. The Bowley sisters played key roles with Brgid (25 pts, 14 rebounds), Hannah (23 pts, 8 rebounds) and Monique (6 pts and 13 rebounds).
Forestville Eagles established a handy lead at half time with a 24-13 second quarter. The Mavericks would not lay down and kept the Eagles honest to the end of the game.
Southern Tigers were challenged by the Lions throughout the game despite the height advantage held by the Tigers.
Despite having established a clear advantage by half time, North Adelaide Rockets were outplayed by a plucky Warriors' unit in the third quarter before re-establishing control in the final term.
The big hauls for the men were undoubtedly Forman's 29 and 16, Puddifoot's 27 and 18, Dix's 23 and 19 and Slambour's 21 and 19. A few double-doubles for the women came from Brigid Bowley with 25 and 14, Hurst's 20 and 11, Barratt's 19 and 13, Maycock had 16 and 11, Beatty 15 and 10, and Newbold with 14 points and a huge 18 rebounds.

Men's ladder is Forestville (only undefeated team in either competition, 4-0), Sturt, Norwood, North, Southern, Centrals, Eastern, West, South, Woodville. Women's ladder is Sturt, Forestville, North, Southern, West, Eastern, Norwood, South, Centrals and Woodville 0-4 at the bottom.

Large rebound hauls, all by very good players playing major minutes,
taking advantage of some attrocious
field goal percentages. Most in mid or low 30's, why doesnt a performance by a guard who shoots the ball well ,rebounds solidly and sets up his team mates all night get some more props i.e. sutton. With all the boards available these large rebound performances are really guys just doing their job similar to a guard handling and distributing the ball, someones going to get the boards, in some games there's close to 120 of them to get. Just a thought!

Well, write your own list. I couldn't be bothered typing out the full review from BSA so I just highlighted some of the double-doubles. Nothing's stopping anyone from contributing their opinions of who played well. Sutton's statline did make the BSA list, as did Gerlach's 20/7/7.
