I think that the Sixers will be Brad Williams' fifth club in three years (including three last year: Breakers, Taipans, Razorbacks).

We don't need another forward, but if he can bring the ball down as a back-up to Maher, then that will be helpful.

The big question is then will Rees start (not preferable!), or back-up Rychart starting at centre? Or is there a big man still to come?

Aaaaahhhhhhh Isacc, the big signing is yet to come if they can pull it off!! Ex NBA experience, ex EUR and yes he IS a Big Man.......2 other Aussie clubs chasing him also, but we are in the mix I am told......Rees wont start.....not even the Sixers are that stupid!!

Hey factman, who is this american big guy the sixers are chasing? dont keep us in the dark, the adleaide 36ers website does enough of that already.
John Jackson and travis lane arent being resigned by the wilcats. Lane would be a good inclusion to fill in the guard spot with maher dont you think?

Have they played in the NBL before?

Anstey is back at Ural and turned down Brisbane (who are after Helliwell).

NBA and Europe. Vlade? Haha.

My thoughts would be if the Farley rumour is true than I can't see us being in the mix with

"the big signing is yet to come if they can pull it off!! Ex NBA experience, ex EUR and yes he IS a Big Man.......2 other Aussie clubs chasing him also, but we are in the mix I am told......"

But hey, I would love to be proved wrong on this one.

Cheers, DJ

If the Farley signing is true, then this big guy must be an Aussie or a Kiwi (Farley & Rychart would be our two imports) the only two bigs I can think of with NBA EXPERIENCE (not just being drafted) are Chris Anstey & Sean Marks.... any other thoughts?

Paul Rogers, Chris Anstey, maybe Mark Bradtke. I think that is more or less the list. Bradtke is in Melbourne, Anstey is back at Ural.

Rogers is in town and has expressed some interest in returning to the Sixers. I'd say that a definite need in the middle of our team would outweigh any injury issues or previous abandonment concerns.

Could very well be PR, in which case:

Maher/Ng
Farley/BWilliams
Holmes/Nash
Rychart/Forman
Rogers/Rees

If that's the line-up, then the club will have managed a very decent roster despite a tough off-season. Quality starters and then what might be the deepest bench in 2004/05.

I guess we'll see if they're successful. Wonder which other teams are still looking for a big man?

Oscar doesn't tell me much, and if he does he'll usually ask me not to post it and I don't. In exchange, I don't tell him who's who on this forum so it's all fair.

If I hear something elsewhere (public forum or something), then I consider it "out" and will post it though.

Fair enough, I was just using it as a hypothetical situation is all. The mouse didn't take the cheese! ;)

My eastern states source who told me about Farley 2 months ago has confirmed that Farley WILL be signing with Adelaide.

He also said cryptically "note that Brisbane are having trouble signing Wade Helliwell".....this is the first season I have had this source....and so far seems to have been on the money with Farley......

Rogers would be an awesome signing! Unlike last time where we built the team around him, this time he would be the final piece to a team that would be extremely hard to beat.

I would definitely take the gamble on Rogers.

Even if he were to get injured, the team in place has enough size to cover him. However on the chance he were to have an uninterrupted season we would almost have to be rated favourites!

Besides, how many 7 foot Boomers are available?

I respected Rogers decision to go for the cash in Europe but I have to admit, he wouldn't be my favourite player if I heard he signed to another NBL team.

Well the 6ers have all 3 potential signings mentioned here....can they AFFORD a 7 footer? Still, quite an impressive starting lineup, considering all the shit that' been thrown at them recently:

Maher/ Ng
Farley/ B. Williams
Jacob/ Nash
Dusty/ Oscar
Rees

Just missing a 5 man....I know it's been said before, but Pero IS cheap and available, right? Surely rotating him and Rees wouldn't hurt?

Although, I did go to the game last season where the Giants beat them by 2 on Pero's back.....and he threw down that MASSIVE dunk in the first minute. That would be nice to have someone like that :)

i totally agree Libertine - Whilst Pero can be a little shaken up at times, not only does he play well offensively but defensively too. Look, the 6ers need as many ticket sales as they can, and Pero, WILL attract fans.

Agree on the Pero factor. He would be a nice addition. As handy as Rees is, we cant afford to have him starting.

We are also still lacking in the back up guard position. Brad Williams is a 3/4 man not a 2 guard. Paul Vandenbergh would round the team off nicely.

Any news on the other big man signing Fact Man ???

Well Nash and Jacob can play small, and from what I saw with Williams, he can guard small players too.

I think the only thing we might found out is, why have so many clubs let him go..... ??

And on Pero....if there were any other 'of-size' 5 men in the Central ABL, then maybe there would be some dispute (ie Truslove). But there's not!
