Rankings for State Championships

With the State Championships only a month or so away, I was wondering how the ranking system for the tournament works. Is it only based on how teams performed over the summer season or do the 4 or 5 rounds played in the winter season have some bearing on the matter ?

The rankings for State Champs go on the first (9 for Div 1) or (12 for div 2) rounds of the summer season.

Thanks for that.....once teams have been seeded, in what order are they then placed into their groups.....given that there are 16 nominations accepted, i assume that the top 4 teams would be in different groups, but in what order are other teams placed into their groups ?

If there are only 10 teams ( or in some instances 12 teams ) who makes up the other available positions and what criteria do these teams or associations have to meet to be accepted ? how then are these teams seeded if they have not played the summer season ? If only 12 nominations are received what format ( 4 groups of 3 or 3 groups of 4 ) does the competition take and how do the crossovers work ?

Plenty of questions I know, but I've never been able to get anyone who could give me a response without being 100% sure if they were correct.

The method for grading is:
G1 G2 G3 G4
1 2 3 4
8 7 6 5
9 10 11 12
16 15 14 13
You are correct that the top four teams would be in separate groups. Teams not competing in the Summer comp are slotted into the groups. If there is more than one country team for example, they will be in different groups.
Any teams are elligible to enter the State Championships. Interstate teams are accepted but are not able to earn points.
12 team nominations would be 3 groups of 4 or 2 groups of 6, not 4 groups of 3. For groups of 3, the best second team in any group moves to the semifinals.

How did you work that one out?

If it's taken on the ladder after all 13 summer season rounds, then it should look something like :

A - Norwood (1), South (4), Forestville (5), Eastern (8), West (9)

B - Sturt (2), North (3), Southern (6), Centrals (7), Woodville (10).

If it's taken on the ladder after round 9, then that will look different, but the seedings are the same.

Hoop Addict - Seedings after round 9 would see North and South the other way around, but all others (I think) remain the same.

12 team grade will be 2 groups of 6. HOwever there has not been any 12 team grade nominated in State on in the Reserves grade.

13 - 15 team grade will have 3 pools while 16 team grades will have 4 pools.

3 groups in a draw does not work, never has because you need a lucky loser from one of the groups. The method for determining this is normally % and if the rankings are not perfect, someone gets screwed!

This has happened in the past. Let's hope BSA learn from this mistake.

2 pools or 4 pools are the only options.

U/16 Girls reserves has 1 12 team comp.

U/16 Boys has a 16 team comp.

There are no 13 team comps this year. But if there was a 13 team comp you would see 3 pools (5 in 1 group,4 in the other 2 groups)

An 11 team competition will have a group of 6 and a group of 5 obviously.
