compare USA junior v Aussie junior

got me a few good contacts in the states

here is something to think about

10 yo - practice two nights a week, usually 1 game on weekend

12 yo - practice two nights a week, usually 2 games on weekend

14 yo - practice daily, usually 2-3 games per week

16 yo - practice daily, usually 2-3 games per week

18 yo - practice daily, usually 2-3 games per week

Now that's a school/travel team schedule. An AAU schedule would be practice twice a week, and up to 4 games per weekend.

at what age would they start a weights programme - not until 14 most likely.

------

footnote - AAU season is not year round - only Summer and more so a series of tournaments rather than a "home and away" season

You are probably correct. I am sure that much of the training for 'older' players is part of the school cirriculum and in school hours. The important thing as I see it is that the school monitors things such as injuries, whereas a player here could have a school coach, club coach, SASI coach and State coach, with little or no communication between all.
