NBL decreases Dench player points

From SMH.com.au :

"Axel Dench is free to join the Melbourne Tigers after the National Basketball League agreed to downgrade his value under the player rating system. "

Interesting, can anyone see a problem with this ?
Didnt we have a problem a while back with Derek Moore in a similar situation?

I don't like this decision at all. The guy has been playing in Europe, is a 10 coming back, and gets that reduced to 7 or whatever they've gone with to get him into the team. He could start ahead of Stiff in Mottram's position. Meanwhile guys like Oscar (rated an 8) and Adam Caporn (also an 8) are coming off the bench. Jacob Holmes (9) could well come off the bench too depending on how Drmic and the Dragons imports do.

The appeal for a reduction should come only when a player is unlikely to gain employment in the league otherwise - in compelling circumstances. Given that the Razorbacks have spots on their roster and Singapore too, plus NZ have money and points cap space free, I can't see the compelling circumstance.

What an absolute farce once again by the nbl , the points system as we know it is there purely so the big dogs can control the talent pooling when and where suits .
In this case so they can build the rivalry in Victoria as their previous efforts in handing sydney three titles still failed to ensure crowd numbers and public support .

I agree that Dench shouldnt be a 10, i think a 7 or a 8 is more suitable to him, as i think Derek Moore is a 8 and they are of similar standard, but yea i do think it is a bit convinient the tigers got him lowered, maybe other clubs may have been able to do it if they tried, so it could just be a case of good work by them for trying and it paid off. I also think its good to see quality Aussies such as Dench return to the league, and aslong as similar concessions are made for others such as a Moore or a Ryan if they chose to return to the NBL i guess no one can really complain.
