Rogers New Perth Captain.

The Perth Wildcats have announced that veteran centre Paul Rogers is the new captain of the club for the 2006/07 Philips Championship season.

Rogers won a championship with the Cats in 2000, the year he was the NBL MVP, and has represented Australia in two Olympics and the World Championships.

The 213cm centre was appointed after a major overhaul both on and off the court of the club in the off-season, and will be the face of the club as it continues its push in the Philips Championship.

The 32-year-old said it was one of the best things that had happened in his career.

Fisher denies rift with Ronaldson.

Speculation that Rono was a bit miffed at having the captaincy swiped after just one season and passed to Rogey.
