Ng under injury cloud

Ng is under a cloud but expected to play.

"Darren has a strained quadriceps," Sixers coach Phil Smyth said last night. "He did it against Wollongong.

"He trained on Monday but pulled up sore today. He has to get through training (tomorrow) to play."
Doesn't sound severe at all - luckily. Ng played 30+ minutes last time Maher was missing.

this happened late in the game it was obvious and he was basically on 1 leg. I kinda hope he is out of the game so phil is forced to run with hill.

No, just give Nash more time, that will fix it! And whatever you do, don't think about giving Sutton the chance, he is far too young and needs to sit on the bench all year.

Hey DJ got me thinking, what happens to the Doctors receptionist when they want to pull a sicky?

Receptionist:"Hello Dr cant come in to work today as i have xyz wrong with me"

Dr:"No problem i can see you at 10 am to look at that for you"

They still have to go to work even if they are sick.Imagine

Squid, I would not be at all sad to see Sutton get a chance in these circumstances - very composed and perhaps a good foil for Hill's rash aggression? Put them both on and see what happens.

Isaac, I was being cynical. Of course I would love to see him get a chance, the lad has some aggression and excellent poise, but do you think this coach is going to actually give a young guy a chance? That's my point. And I am no Mark Nash fan!

nash plays a role, and for the most part he does it well. What our problems is with the lack of confidence in the young guys or being blinded by past status of other players.

Its a sad state of affairs when Ng, Hill & Sutton are the options for a missing Maher. Its like asking an intern to perform major heart surgery in the absence of the heart specialist. Risky. The team is not setup at all to cope with the absence of Maher.

I think Ng did a great job bringing down the ball last game. He got the ball down quick and pushed it ahead when someone was free. He also managed to score 17 points a few assists and rebounds and only turned the ball over once bearing in mind he played 30+ min.

got to ask the question though when was the last full season we got out of Maher, great player don't get me wrong but injury has limited his time over the past few seasons, we should have been in the position now to have a ready made back up for him, not a mish mash of players who might be able to fill the position.

I blame all the ABL coaches for not developing a back up guard for Maher...........
