Basketball World Club Championship...

Many moons ago there was the McDonalds Cup which was played every 2 years (i think) between the club champions from the various Basketball Confderations of the world... I would love to see this - but being as the NBA pays only lip service to internationalizing the game - it won`t happen... Back then the NBA teams could send their second-string and summer league outfits and still dominate (the Suns played such luminaries as Jerrod Mustaf, Negele Knight, Joe Courtney - and gave them serious PT - AND STILL WON)... Do that now and you would be caned by any decent Euro team... And of course - how would it look if the NBAs self proclaimed "World Champions" were beaten by a team of spics and so called "NBA rejects"???

Anyway - my point was this would be great to see (just like the Toyota Cup for Football in Japan)... And it would show basketball up to be a true world sport - even though the Americans would ##ss and moan about the refereeing being unfair and the rules not being the way they "play" the game...

You made me think....why do US NBA winning teams call themselves 'Champions of the World' when they didn't win the World Championships?

Because they are American...and if it is good enough to be played there, it is a world championship..

Yeah i agree DB5, you win any tournament or league in the US and that automatically make you WORLD championship.

I would love to see these championships, thats why it's a part of my last post. We really need this back.
