Best all time NBL import duo

http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&aid=4516

In the above link, Matt McQuade lists the top import combos this season

Cortez Groves & Adam Ballinger should be number 1 this season and would be up there for one of the best combos ever in this league.

Chris Williams & Kavossy Franklin
Kevin Brooks & Darnell Mee

They'd be the top combos this league has seen

Here was a recent post of mine on OzHoops, regarding this year's import combos:

My top 20 player rankings up to January 1 were -

Sam Mackinnon
Carlos Powell
Shawn Redhage
John Rillie
Adam Ballinger
Paul Rogers
Chris Anstey
Larry Abney
Brett Maher
Rosell Ellis
Glen Saville
Cortez Groves
Martin Cattalini
Nick Horvath
Brad Newley
Dave Thomas
Darren Brooks
Todd Fuller
Darnell Mee
Willie Farley

Import pairings from my data:

Ballinger and Groves: 71.6
Redhage and Brooks: 71.0
Powell and Wethers: 69.8 (Bulk of that is Powell)
Abney and Rowland: 62.6 (Interestingly, Rowland and Gardner are both 26.2! Rowland's numbers include his time with the Kings)
Ellis and Franklin: 61.7
Horvath and Farley: 60.7
Thomas and Tucker: 58.7
Helms and Chandler: 53.9
Rychart and Ere: 51.8
Owens and Thornton: 47.1 (Owens and Mee: 55.0)
Scott and Elliott: 45.7 (Note: no data on Beasley)
Bailey and Ya Ya Dia: 45.2

Data is based on statistics. The rankings are fairly close to how I'd position them anyway, though I'd have NZ lower, and Dragons above Crocs.

Scott Fisher and Tim Dillon were unstoppable splashing the taped up rings at the glsshouse .

Tim Dillon averaged 31 ppg , 10 reb , 2.3 ass , 1.4 stl , 1.3 blks at 50% over two years .

Scott fisher in those same years averaged 31.7 ppg , 12.3 reb , 3.4 ass , 1.7 stl , .2 blks at 55% .

Fisher and Dillon where indeed unstoppable and at their peak would handle any other duo apart from the Brooks Mee combo easily in a 2 on 2 comp.

La Fleur / Mitchell pre door smashing antics where also a great combo.

Copeland and Timmons would have to go close.. championships there. I think they get pipped by Brooks/Mee though. They'd both be top 5 you'd think...

How about Grace and Crawford (the Alabama Slammer)?? They'd have to be up there surely

Rimas Kurtaniatis and Ricky Jones, Rimas started the trend of sixers giving teams their first win as we continue to do. He hit a baseline jumper at the dome for the suns / crocs first road win.

Rimas Kurtanitis and Ricky "The Rain Man" Jones were a great pair for sure.

Fisher and Dillon at the Giants.

Dwayne McClain and Kenny McClary at the Kings.

Bolden and Rose were brilliant together in 92 for the Magic.

There's been heaps......Leroy and anyone. Was Leroy an Aussie when Woodberry played? Can't be stuffed checking....they were a great pairing.

This season (BIAS ALERT!!!!)..... Ellis and Franklin. They may not be statistically the best but you'd be hard pressed to find 2 imports more important to their team intensity and chemistry. Actually, scrap the bias alert..... plenty on ozhoops agree.

Hard to argue with results.

1. Leroy Loggins and Al Green (Bearcats)
2. Scott Fisher and Tim Dillon (Giants)
3. Mark Davis and Bill Jones (36ers)
4. Darnell Mee and Kevin Brooks (36ers)
5. Tiny Pinder and James Crawford (Wildcats)

Ricky "Rainman" Jones loves and misses the nbl. It was one of my best experiences. The fans and writers are the best in the world and i felt at home the two years i spent with the Suns. LOOOOOOVE THE FANS.I wish i could have some tapes of my games to show my 5 year old he is 4foot4 and 72pounds. Who knows he might play there one day.
