Schensch gets a second 10-Day

Portland have retained Luke Schenscher for another ten-day contract.

Zach Randolph is back in the team meaning that short of an injury to another big man, Luke may not hit the court, but it's good news anyway.

Anyone know what kind of coin 10 days entail??? Is it decent money or more like work experience/apprenticeship ca$h??? for the opportunity to parlay your way into a proper contract?

It seems a little odd that he got a second 10-day if the Blazers are just going to have him inactive (not even suiting up), as it looks like they are.

Johnny, not 100% sure but I'm pretty confident he'd be making more for a 10 day in the NBA than for a season in the D-League.

Billo - that'd be my guess. Find the average number of games in a ten day period (10-day contract or 3 game minimum I think the contracts are, technically) - between three and six maybe? Take the NBA minimum, work out what that comes to per game and make it a vague ballpark.

Looks like after this the Blazers have to sign Luke for the rest of the season or cut him loose... Found this on an NBA salary cap FAQ site... Might be worth their while to trial him at (virtually) no cost...

65. What is a 10-day contract?

A 10-day contract is just that, a player contract which lasts ten days (or three games, whichever comes later). A team may sign a player to two 10-day contracts in one season (they may or may not be consecutive). After the second 10-day contract, the team can only retain the player by signing him for the remainder of the season. A team can't have more 10-day contracts than they have players on their Inactive List. Ten-day contracts are available to be used starting January 5 (or the first business day thereafter) each season.

Good luck big bird...
