Most State League Titles

I was reading that North haven't won the Men's State League title since the early 80's. This surprised me a lot. So I was wondering, who has the most state league titles. Is West still miles in front - I know they've won a lot and have only missed the finals a few times and never in consecutive years, but their last GF was in 2001 and last title in 96. So is there a new force emerging? And does anyone have a full list of previous winners.

With North being so young and also having a young coach, even if they dont win this year they could be in finals and grand finals for quite a few years to come. Shows what a good junior program can do for a club.

Thanks.

Here's the tallies:

Team Titles R/U
West Adelaide 14 11
South Adelaide 10 7
North Adelaide 4 4
Sturt 4 5
Forestville 3 6
Noarlunga City 3 2
A.S.K. 2 3
Budapest 2 2
Glenelg 2 3
Woodville 2 1
Central Dist 1 0
Eastern 1 0
Norwood 1 0
West Torrens 1 4
Murray Bridge 0 2

West and South dominate but no titles since 96 and 97. Forestville have 2 titles from 5 GFs since then and Sturt 2 titles from 3 GFs. Its been pretty even since the mid 90s when the two team dominance seems to end. No wonder everyone always talks up the West vs South games.

I'massuming we can add together Norlunga and Gleneld's titles as they are the same club. As Forstville and West Torrens are!

I stand to be corrected on this but i think ASK became Adelaide which then became Adelaide Southern which then merged with Noarlunga.

I think the Dancis brothers played for ASK as they where predominantly a Litho / Latvian team

Budapest was a Hungarian club with the Hody brothers, Les and John. Les represented Hungary at 1956 Olympics as a 17 y.o and Australia at the 1964 Olympics. Boti Nagy's 4 older brothers also played for Budapest. A tough team in the early 60's

seriously weren't they from hallett cove baptist

and here is some testers !!

woodville was formed by cheltenham baptist and cheltenham congregational teams.

i can even remember a port adelaide district team - they played in collingwood style singlets - only lower grade (metro) juniors

Dont forget West use to be at Bowden. Not near their current location. There use to be a Port Adelaide, but they were useless.
