Funny Sixers vs Hawks tonight

Just a reminder that Adelaide play Wollongong tonight at 7:40 AEDT. Your best bet for scores will be the NBL site from about 7:10.

It's the first time that the two teams have met in 2004/05. Darnell Mee is flying back from the US and hoping to make it in time for the game. Andrew Rice is a possibility, but could miss the game through injury. Brett Maher will undergo a fitness test before tip-off and will miss the game if there's any soreness in his calf.

The Hawks have won the last two meetings between the teams, but Adelaide has a 16-13 edge in Wollongong.

The odds are against Adelaide, literally. Bet $1 on the Sixers to win by 11+ and you get $11 back. You can bet on the game at SportsTAB.com.au -- click this link, then "Basketball" and look for the various betting options in NBL Wk 13. Get $3.60 from a $1 bet if the Sixers win.

Sixers without Maher vs Hawks withough Darnell.

Still a tough ask, but I think for the Sixers to win it will be pretty scrappy and a close one, so I'll leave the $11 bet alone this time :-)

If the Hawks start firing, which they are capable of with Campbell & Saville (Both being way off the mark this season IMO) then we could be in trouble.

Match-ups would have to be:

Farley vs Campbell
Ng vs Caporn
Holmes vs Saville
Rychart vs Ballinger
Rees vs Pilon

?

If both Mee and Maher are out, and Campbell doesn't have an extraordinary game (he's been missing his shots recently), then we're in with a solid chance I think.

I know we went with that starting lineup the other night, but I would much rather see (If Maher is sitting out)

Farley
Holmes
Forman
Rychart
Rees

Then you have;
Ng who can come in for Holmes or Farley
Cooper who can come in for Rychart, Forman or Rees (more than likely rees)

Wollongong Hawks 105 (Campbell 20, Saville 18, Mee 13)
Adelaide 36ers 81 (Farley 19, Maher 15, Rychart, Cooper 11)

"Wollongong set up the win with a blitzing first quarter, registering 43 points on 71 percent (17-of-24), including 7-of-9 threes as the shell-shocked 36ers had no answers..."

Boxscore

Maher played 33 minutes but only had 2 assists, so not his usual self.

Bad shooting nights for Rychart (4/16), Holmes (2/11) and Forman (2/8). Rychart had 6 boards (all offensive), Forman had 8 and Holmes had 5.

Cooper was a solid performer -- 11 points and 10 boards in 28 minutes.

The shooting percentages cost us the game. We had almost half as many fouls as they did, but shot at 33% to their 49%. They made 8 more threes than us which funnily gives the 24 point margin.
