Russo says no deal re Bullets

Business-woman, Sarina Russo, tipped as a potential saviour of the Brisbane Bullets, has said today that she is not interested at this time. Having done her due diligence, she claims there is not much there worth buying.

"There were no sponsors, hardly any players there's very little to buy, except virtually the licence. It's too precarious on a commercial model to make that investment in this small window of opportunity we have."

You can read more at the Courier Mail site.

In three weeks, if no other buyer is found, it is possible that Eddy Groves will return the franchise licence to the NBL.

It sounds a bit like she hasn't shut the door on the idea completely. She might be one of the bidders if they blow it up and start all over again.

I think having to drum up fresh sponsorship deals would be scaring people off. Once upon a time, teams had $700k or so naming rights sponsors - doubt many have that now.

$700k!? Wow! The NBL only get a bit more than that for sponsorship of the whole damn league.
