All time Boomers team

Who would people pick in an all time Boomers team?

Been having this debate with mates while the olympics is on and none of us can agree on a team of 10 (2 players per position)

So what are peoples teams?

I dont know all of the older guys (pre Seoul) but players like Sengstock, Bradtke, Longley, Vlahov, Gaze, and Heal all would probably make it.

I don't think you could put Maher in there - seeing as Barnes gave him no chance at all he really doesn't have a great Olympic record.

Whilst Mills will undoubtedly make it some day I don't think his 3 games and 5 days of olympic experience really qualify him for an all time team just yet!

I know I am crystal ball gazing there but Mills will be by far the best point guard to ever come out of Australia....

Guards out of

SSmyth, Heal, Gaze, Pearce, Blicavs( not technically a Boomer though?)

Forwards

Bradtke, Vlahov, Ronaldson, Sengstock, McKinnon

Centre

Longley, Bogut

Mills misses out only due to being half way through his first tournament where the above have a proven track record over time. Bogut gets in based on international game just over Borner.

Mills PG ... you're kidding. Averaging 2 apg and ato ratio of 2, after including the gift of Iran. Against Croatia and Argentina averaged 0.5 apg ... not the best all time by a long shot.

i think you would have to include Palubinskas
he was the leading scorer at the Montreal olympic and second highest scorer at the Munich games

Mills should not be in there. He will be, but he's played 3 games people, 3 games. Let's ease off a bit....

Like comparing apples and oranges... but from the old days...

yes Mike Ah Matt - small forward/ 2man, (played with him and against him)

Werner Linde - 2 man(before there was a 3 pt line he was still massive pt scorer from well beyond) I found him very tough to guard under the old rules.

Inga Friedenfields- 2/3 man(think I spelled it OK)

yes Palubinskas - but don't expect anyone else to get the ball

FWIW, Mills is averaging 15 PPG these games compared to 9 PPG from Bogut and 4 PPG from CJ. Meanwhile, Newley is shooting at 68% for second best in the comp behind Wade.

Worst players to ever pull on the gold jersey - mainly from the smythe era:

mark nash,
daniel egan,
dean uthoff,
brad sheridan (im sure goorj gave him a game or two while he was at kings),
tim morrisey,
paul rogers,
jason reece?,
axel dench,
ben knight,
scott mcgregor,
derek moore,
brad davidson (dunno if he ever actually played but was selected in many squads)

perhaps after this olympics we can stick saville, worthington, andersen etc on the list.
