Bynum Seeking $17 mil per year

"Bynum's agent, David Lee, reportedly is seeking a five-year extension worth an estimated $17 million a year, while the Lakers are more comfortable paying Bynum about $10 million a year."

Little overpriced? Thoughts?

"Tell him, his dreaming!"

If he has a break out, consistent injury free season this year then 17 million would be in question in future seasons. But no way would you pay that much for him atm and not knowing how he will come back from injury.

No harm in asking... You never know - $17m might be the new $10m if the US Treasury starts printing all those dollars for all of its financial market bailouts...

17million?

Over-paid and not ready for that amount yet.
How will he pull up from the injury and surgery?

Play consistent injury free for a few years and maybe.

10million is plenty for him.

I thought 10 mil was over priced. very promising player but 17 mil before you've actually reached your potential is absolutely ridiculous.

he should ask for 2-3 year extension for 10mil... then when that is up ask for more if he has improved or test free agent market

What was Bogut's deal - 12 million per year? Bynum's camp would argue he is worth much more than Bogut as his development has been fast and potential is huge.

Bogut has never come off major knee surgery either, and Bogut's deal was an average of $12 million over 5.

He can't make $17 million for a few seasons anyway. His agent is a knob. Under his rookie class he can't get that coin. If CP3 and Deron can't earn $17 mill off the bat, Bynum never will.

CP3 doesn't hit over $17 mill until 2012 and he's on a max extension coming off a rookie contract.

2009-10: $13,758,000
2010-11: $15,202,590
2011-12: $16,647,180
2012-13: $18,091,770

He's kidding himself really. Welcome to salary cap hell Mr Buss.

bynum is being greedy. give him a 2-3 year extension and let him prove his worth. he still will be young when he finishes his contract and if he proves his worth, then sign him to a max contract like derons or CP3s. he has only had one good year others have been poor

I worry about Bynum, his character and work ethic.

For me, to give a max contract, a player needs both the skills and the mindset to dominate.

Not convinced he has either.
