New NBL sales GM is ex-Power exec

NBL SCORES WITH MAJOR RECRUITING COUP

The National Basketball League has scored a major recruiting coup with Basketball Australia announcing the appointment of former Port Adelaide Power executive Aaron Flanagan as the NBL's new General Manager of Sales and Marketing.

Flanagan is an accomplished marketing and sales professional with over a decade’s experience in high profile sporting organisations, having also worked for the Moonee Valley Racing Club and Thoroughbred Racing SA.

Basketball Australia Chief Executive Larry Sengstock said the appointment of Flanagan to oversee the identification and growth of commercial opportunities for the NBL was a major step forward for the league.

"We are delighted to welcome someone of Aaron’s calibre to our team as his skill set is unique and perfectly suited to the needs of the NBL," said Sengstock. “He was selected from a very strong field of candidates for his proven track record of developing and implementing strategy that delivers results in terms of revenue generation.

“As the NBL continues to re-establish itself as a major force on the sporting landscape, Aaron will be charged with capitalising on the league’s growth and driving our evolving commercial programs,” Sengstock added. “It’s an exciting time for the NBL and Aaron has the talent to make a significant contribution to the continued resurgence of the league.”

Flanagan will commence his new duties with the NBL immediately.
Any Power fans here know much about him?

Never heard of him, but judging by our (Port's) ticket sales in the last 6 years, he would be a marketing guru!

I was thinking the same DB5.

The Power & Racing in SA have not actually boomed at anytime in recent memory.

Hope he does better with the NBL, good luck Aaron.
