I'll admit I don't follow the NBL that closely but what's with the Rookie of the Year voting? Read Boti's article on Thursday - stop embarassing the kids and don't be stupid. Molitor got 24 votes. What the?

Agree Moses,

I think he played about 24 mins of game time for the season in total

No real surprise winners for mine.

Observations:

- Ballinger not first team despite 2nd in MVP voting?
- Molitor in running for ROTY - this is a joke

BTW,
Ballinger runner up.

People may be critical, but sometimes in a bad team, the best player attracts more MVP points than they would if they were in a better team

Hate to sound like I'm drinking from the bitch cup, but can anyone tell me how many COTY votes Scotty got?

Molitor got votes because everyone did a 3-2-1 vote and people couldn't vote for their own team. e.g., Molitor got various one votes and he or Ammar had to get 1-2 two votes.

The clubs have to put forward nominations. Molitor was eligible (one of few this year it seems) and was nominated. How might he feel if his club didn't even nominate him? (Not sure if he was eligible, but the Breakers didn't nominate Abercrombie!) I don't think Molitor or the club would ever dream of him being a chance of winning it, but it was right to put him forward since he was eligible. Might even be a bit embarrassing for him, so why rub it in and call it a joke? Why hate for hate's sake? Just congratulate a worthy winner and overlook the awkward bit.

How is Saville 2nd team? he had such a down year. The NBL awards is a joke. I remember a few years ago where a player finished runner up MVP and didn't even make and all nbl team.

I don't know if people are having a go directly at Chris. And yes, the situation is not ideal. Personally, I would like to have seen him have more court time last year and have said this here many times.

He still qualifies for the U23 spot next NBL season. Would like to see him have another shot at it.

Isaac, you raise a good point but to answer your question ..... How might he feel if his club didn't even nominate him? ..... I would think the more pertinent question is ..... in a league that brought in an Under-23 rule to promote young players etc, where the heck are the rest of the "eligible" nominees? I find it hard to believe there were only four first-year players in the league. If this is the case then shame, NBL, shame. Change the Under-23 rule to an Under-20 rule or something.

Moses, there were lots of young guys who'd already played in the league - Goulding, Weigh, K Williams, the younger guys in Melbourne, Abercrombie, Hill, etc. Remember that with only eight teams (down from a few more in the last couple of years), teams consolidated and a lot of U23 spots went to players with a bit of experience. If Hill had been slightly younger, I don't think we would've had an eligible rookie at all. A lot of young guys would be in development spots too.
