Whoa, sounds like a major re-wire and/or upgrade to the switchboard is needed.

You can only pull so many amps in a wire so if things are catching alight, it usually means there's too much load on the individual circuit(s).

Don't know too much about electrics, 'cos if you can see it it's doesn't exist, but I do know what any sparky will say:

"None of this is to code"
"We're gunna have to replace the whole lot"
"We'll have to report whoever did this"
"It's not gunna be cheap"

It's a BSA owned stadium and thank goodness BSA have a lazy $60K to spend on fixing the problem to make it safe.

Switchboards are what the old telphone operators used to use and there are many reasons why things can catch alight (one being that circuits are overloaded)

Jack it is NOT a BSA owned Stadium.

BSA do not own a single stadium.

If BSA don't own then who does?

Marion Council and BSA lease it off the Council.

Pity the Fire Brigade got there in time, Insurance may have got a new stadium built. :)

However, I did here that the fire was only one light, so may not have been much damage if it wasn't stopped.

No ABL Games until 10th April, but I wonder whether junior games can continue, I believe that Social Grand Finals were cancelled.

Maybe one of the resident possums left the iron on?

Tin sheds and dodgy wiring, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Easy folks, you are all jumping to a number of conclusions in your posts.

1 small fire with a light and we have already earmarked $60k for a major refurbish, and we are going to be reporting people as well!

It well could have been something minor falling against a light.

We are all eager to have the stadiums refurbished, but lets wait for the official version of what happened before we start bulldozing buildings and throwing people in jail for doing dodgy wiring jobs.

Reminds me of the story of two businessmen on the insurance scam.

#1: Sorry to hear about your factory fire
#2: Shhh, it's tomorrow

3 years ago when I played there while it was raining heavily and the roof couldn't handle it. Landed on all the wires.
