Boti: Blaze replacement import is Ira Clark

Gold Coast expects to shortly name Ira Clark as the club's new NBL import forward, replacing James Maye.

From Texas, the 203cm veteran has been playing internationally for more than a decade and brings the Blaze a much needed additional power forward, especially in the wake of losing Anthony Petrie (Achilles) for the season.

Here's a video of him dunking in a Korean league:

And some highlights from what seems to be a league in the Middle East:

Yeah, nice dunk. That league looks terrible though! Guys not catching passes, losing their handle, guys sea-gulling waiting for the fast break.
Hard to tell how good he is from the footage, however if he brings that kind of athleticism, it will be exciting for the league!

This guy has been a very good import in some of the best European leagues (Greece, Italy, Russia, Turkey) - athletic, mobile, strong and skilful, but he is also 35 years old these days.

Some players age better than others so it will be interesting to see how much go he has left in him.

He can grow an excellent beard which is important.

vanexel - they didn't want Davison. Injury was just an excuse. I don't think they thought much of his work ethic.

paul, could end up being a bit like Alston at the Breakers? Journeyman who knew how to play his role without disrupting the team.

So they were small in the first place and have now replaced Maye (SF/PF) and Petrie (PF/C) with a point guard and a power forward. Hmm...

Bring in Raheim Brown!!!! I saw him working out at Starplex the other day. The guy is 6'10 and awesome. The NBL needs a guy like him.

heard Tiny Pinder is on weekend release.. maybe they could make a deal with Probation & Parole. God knows Joey's credibility is already questionable with Import selection....

Dont forget they can still replace three players - Petrie, Maye and Vasiljevic. Of course, they have used up 20/23 points if they bring in Hudson and Clark. I think a Justin Bowen type would be a better fit than Hudson.

They have now signed Clark and Hudson so they only have 3 points left if my maths is correct. Most likely they will keep Gleeson on the roster when Cadee returns.
