Had to take a look and agree with your assessment here.

Either David Stocker is a genius or a pest. Interesting strategy regardless. Wonder what BASA think ..... or perhaps they don't!

If you want to ask them, then why don't you email them....try [email protected] (Substitute the BASA employee's name for xxx)

Get it?

lol David's a genious. At least he put a link to the real basa site. As if basa didn't already have that domain, you'd think they would at least register it so things like this couldn't happen. Imagine if someone registered it and used it as a porn site. It'd be interesting, but not exactly what you're looking for.

Basketball Activity South of Adelaide is exactly what the southern tigers are. They have a nice website too. Its been offline for a while.

Technically, someone could (as alluded to above) register a company called Boring Acronym Society of Australia, then register basa.com.au (were it still available), and BASA would have no recourse whatsoever to attain that domain. First come, first served. If you have a legal entitlement to the domain and you go for it first, it's yours.

but it wasnt just someone it was from a member club.Legally they have the right. But all it is illustrating is they are sticking one up to BASA, no matter if they have put a link to it or not.
I think BASA have bigger problems to iron out long before they look at what domain they register for a web sight, as i also think southern should be looking at their own housekeeping also, as once again talk around the circles is things are going down hill rapidly from juniors through to seniors. But dont worry about it because they have cluey web builders holding the club together.(LIke to see them out on court)

You'd be amazed anon #29671 david stocker used to be a player back in the day. He used to play going back a while now and is now a business man at the age of 20 and his family is still involved in the committee at Southern.

hello, am i hearing right, a 20yr old built basa.com. au and your trying to add credibility to what they have done by saying he use to be a player, hello hello anyone home,no matter what his age as a business person he should be building business relationships, not alienating your governing body.
being that age, shouldnt he be out playing/coaching instead of sticking one to basa.
And i know for a fact after speaking with a certain committee person from southern they all think it is hilarious that they got to basa.com first.

I think BASA are more than happy with their Adelaide 36ers domain. Has BASA made any comment regarding this URL?

Why would Southern even want to register the BASA domain? Chances are they registered it knowing it would generate publicity for their own new web site - and it's done this nicely.

Looking at the bigger picture, I say good on Southern for their efforts finding a sponsor and putting together an excellent web site.

I think a lot of clubs (mine included) should stop complaining about what domains Southern has registered and start concentrating their efforts on their own web sites - before Southern come along and register our club domains too!
