Abercrombie pips Simpson for NBL POTW

Abercrombie's 33 and 11 in a double OT home win has grabbed him POTW for Round Nine.

Simpson's 22/10/4 made him an easy runner-up, as the 36ers won on the road in Perth.

The other main mention was Crawford for 22 and 7 in a home win.

Others considered for Player of the Week for Round Nine included Chris Warren (Adelaide), Jamar Wilson (Cairns), Cameron Tragardh (Melbourne), Ronald Dorsey (Melbourne), Darryl Corletto (New Zealand), Matthew Knight (Perth), Tim Coenraad (Wollongong), Elvin Mims (Townsville) and Julian Khazzouh (Sydney).
Might be a few who favoured Simpson given that it was a road win in Perth and Abercrombie had double OT to get his numbers, but otherwise reasonable selections.

Next time Diamon...

Abercrombie scored 9 of his points in the OT's.

He also had he shot blocked a few times.
If he was that good the Breakers would have won it in regulation.

You have to wonder really how many of Abercrombies efforts were in the extra 10minutes of game time. You would hope that when they look at the POTW they actually consider this

NBA? Are you delusional? Ill go on record saying he is not and never will be an NBA player. Great in the NBL though...but so was Jingles and Newley

did you miss him in the world champs against Spain?
The kid can play, his jump shot and outside shooting are constantly improving and he can jump out of the building. His Coach and Corletto rate him as the best defensive player in the league, that is a big argument but at least he is in it. He hit a massive 3 in OT from way back to turn the tide and a massive block that saved the game for his team. Abercrombie outscored Diamon in regulation and then got it done in OT. People on FB saying "but Abercrombie needed X amount of minutes and Diamon only played this amount and got that amount of points". Abercrombie was effective offensively and defensively for 45mins, Diamon played 26mins but would he be as effective with longer minutes? Surely your Coach would play him more if that was the case? Great game by both Players in tough games against great Teams but the NBL got it right this time.

Abercrombie POTW, daylight second, Simpson an outstanding third. Getting it done in OTs is bonus points, as is hitting 6/9 triples.

But if you used the European efficiency method for determining MVP, Simpson wins it by a point.
