words from head coach of the U17 Men's program, Guy Molloy

"I think it’s fair to say that those 12 players who won the Oceania Championship have the first right at defending those positions having won it in 2011; however we’ve always been very clear to those 12 players to say that selection in 2011 does not automatically mean selection in 2012," he said.

"But I will say that we were one of the smaller, less athletic teams in the 2010 Worlds, and the indications are that this team will be bigger across the board and more athletic and that is an exciting prospect as well,” he said.

What a great pity the 2 South Australian Assistant Coaches involved in U17 girls program were not able to get more SA representation in the squad. A couple of SA metro girls are very unlucky not to be included.

Who are the standouts in the boys? Any future Boomers?

Just because there are 2 SA Asst Coaches with the Oz U-17 Girls Team doesnt mean that more SA Metro Girls should be picked! Every player should be picked on their own talent & merit not on where the Coaching Panel orginate from!

Exum and Simmons, sons of ex-NBL imports now Australian citizens are outstanding prospects.

And just to add, Jack is son of former NBLer Nigel.

Am I right in assuming Cher Maker related to Thon?

Also, are the Froling girls related to former NBLer Shane?

I would think all the players could possibly play NBL if they knuckle down to basketball

Tanner Krebs is the son of former NBL player Dan. He was outstanding at the U16 nationals and could be anything.
Word out of Tassie is that he is a better scorer than Greenwood.

Tanner Krebs is terrible??
He is legit, at 3 on 3 this week in Sydney he was the best player there by far and he was two years younger than most players.

He is legit, at under 19 3x3 in Sydney he was by far the best player there he was the main reason Tas came 2nd, he is one of the best scorers ive seen for his age in a long time, he is a terrific 3 point shooter and can get to the ring with ease, he is getting good minutes in SEABL, I really like this kid he will be one to keepp an eye on in these next few years.

Sorry Rob, but can't let this pass without comment.
Without a doubt the kid can play and has huge potential. But a " better scorer than Greenwood." Really? Big statement, mate. Huey's got the runs on the board. Huge nationals, AIS scholarship and college career underway. The U16 nats you refer to. Have checked out the games in that comp and the two finals the Tas boys played - guess what - he didn't score more than a handful of points in each game. Games that were both lost. Outstanding nationals - no. Pool games are one thing, finals entirely another. The purpose of my post is not to rubbish the said player - in fact I reckon he'll go a long way - it's just to highlight that many statements put forward in these forums are made without foundation.
