Clutch Playoff Performers

I see that Robert Horry is 3-3 from downtown today so far for 17 points off the bench. Does this guy lift his game come playoffs or what?

What other guys lift their game come playoff time?

As much as I hate to say it but Iverson tends to lift.

Plus the obvious that people have already listed above.

Reggie
MJ
Magic
Larry
Charles

What about someone like Jason Kidd sure NJN went out in the 1st round but he seemed to lift.

Hakeem was awesome in the playoffs.

Steve Kerr anyone??

Steve Kerr hit that game winner for Chicago of the assist from Jordan, so on that shot alone it would put him right up there.

Good call on that one Doc.

What about the whole pistons team of the late 80's? and even the current side. Playoffs come they all seem to step to a new level. Anyone agree?

i concur. Great Post Bizzy, it seems your coming of age.

Pistons do find that extra level of intencity.

How about locally, Robert Rose would have to be the NBL's Ice man. How many clutch shots has he hit? For and against the sixers.

Steve Kerr also hit big shots for the Spurs against Dallas. 4 straight threes after playing only 7 minutes in the entire playoffs.

Did it again in the finals against New Jersey. Had not played all series, and came in and stroked 2 big shots on Kidd to complete the biggest 4th quarter comeback in Finals history.

Most accurate 3 point shooter in NBA History. 3 time Long Distance shootout champ.

Anyone seen that game against Dallas? It's nuts. Kerr has hit 3 straight, and Nash leaves him to double team Duncan. What a knob. I watched it live and was screaming at the TV "Don't leave him open!", and SPLASH. Kerr answers. All net.

What about todays game between Bulls and Washington. Pargo came in with 38 seconds left Bulls down 10ish, he hit 3/3 from behind the arc + an assist to Hinrich for another shot. They lost on the buzzer but pretty ICE cool for a 3rd year in his 1st finals appearance.

Biggest clutch shot was MJ in the Finals vs Utah, 1998. That shot when he stripped Malone and made the duece from the top of the key won them the Championship.

Everyone remembers MJ over Craig Ehlo for the game winner. That shot made Ehlo a star. He was a nobody before MJ made him into a household name.

Mind you, one of my fav playoff memories was when John Starks went mad against the Bulls in 1993 and drove the baseline and stuffed it like no little man has before. I think it was on Jordan and Pip.

Jordan was Mr Clutch in the playoff, followed closely by Reggie Miller.

Miller in the 94 series vs the Knicks went nuts. In the fourth quarter Miller was in the zone, hitting five three-pointers and tallying 25 points.

Jerry Wests big half court bomb against the Knicks would have to be clutch as well as Isaih's 16 points in under 2 minutes against the Knicks.

Sapas bank 3 against the Gong in 98, Lowery Free Throws ( damn it),

way to many clutch performances to mention....MJ seems to be top of the list for game winners though

must crack out the old VHS Awesome Endings ala Larry Bird style

Few people know that Ehlo dropped 35 in that game, and the lead changed 5 times in the last 90 seconds, with Ehlo and Jordan the only ones to score. Ehlo hit a three, then a driving lay-up to put them ahead. Made the last shot even bigger.

Shaq just crusies through the season and steps up to get his team over the line in the play offs ... but the all time greatest has to be Jordan never seen anyone be able to take a team on his back and make them win quite like he could

I know it's not basketball, but ..... Clark Keating from the Brisbane Lions. To quote a certain radio caller:

"There he is again. Mushroom. Comes out once a year in September."

that isnt 'clutch'...thats just an amazing play...a 'clutch' player is someone who delivers every time the team needs a basket..or who takes over in the fourth and makes the right decisions...a player who doesnt look rattled by nerves...THATS clutch...yes reggie was clutch..but when u describe that ONE play and then define THAT as clutch , then u are wrong

ummmm .... the pacers needed 6 points in 23 seconds BADLY, reggie got those 6 points plus a steal in 5 seconds and thats not clutch to you?

yeh ok..
