Clark to stand down as Sixers boss

Saw this headline on News Limited sites and nearly had a heart attack

Clark to stand down as Sixers boss

It is related to Stuart Clark and the Sydney Sixers BBL though

wouldnt registering that name and using it when there is an established team in Australia using it be an infraction of IP ?

Not if Adelaide weren't smart enough to register the informal "sixers" along with "thirty sixers"

Thought there was something not long ago (5 or 6 years?) when they went with the 36ERS being part of the logo that they were kinda distancing or giving up on the 'Sixers' term/reference.

Adelaide 36ers
36ers
Adelaide Sixers
Sixers
Super Sixers

Would all be worthy of protecting and using in some form of marketing now or in the future.

re: Clark to stand down as Sixers boss

Yeah, at one point they switched to Sixers (retaining the old logo above it) before returning to 36ers with the revised logo that is used now.

The trademark register has two current results for "Sixers", one being the Sydney Sixers, and three for "36ers", all the Adelaide basketball team.

There are older results for Adelaide Sixers or Super Sixers, but they have all lapsed in some way.

Anyone can be fooled by that.....

When i read it ......Clark not Clarke

Why would Marty step down when the Sixers are 3rd

Marty would step down if sixers were 0-9

Dont let the ladder position fool you, this team isnt a real threat come playoff time under Clarke. He hasnt got a clue what he's doing. Im a very concerned fan, becuase im not in denial of what winning to scrappy games against a out of form Perth means.

orbit, it's an extinct marsupial. Their ancient bones were found at the site of the now-Dome at the time it was being built. If you listen during certain times of the year, you can still hear their ghosts squeak near the court. Depending on music and announcer volume, of course.

The more boring version would be every Adelaidean is a 36er? Adelaide was founded in 1936, hence the name.

They should have challenged its registration, in my opinion. Too similar.

orbit, yes, 36 there were, as remembered in the classic marsupial rhyme:

Two score, less four no more
Amok on the Powerhouse floor
Our heroes doff their snapback hats
Shouting "Nay, we be not rats!"

Identifying feature was a frayed look to the tail, giving rise to their latin nameDjarthia dennardis.

Listen for them if you're ever at the Dome.
