Arena bids down to two choices

From Boti yesterday:

My information is the Commonwealth Bank is considering two viable offers.

The church bid is believed to be financially stronger but requires the lifting of numerous council and state government caveats, which may not be possible.

The other bid is an unrestricted offer but Basketball SA - which threw its hat into the ring late - has said it is not from the association.

The identity of the basketball bid or bidding consortium remains confidential, as does the actual identity of the relevant church group.

Churchs can be quite rich institutions.

What's Plan B?

Actually, if 5,000 basketball supporters join the Church, then commandeer the Executive Committee in a Bloodless coup at the AGM, we could then control the asset.

Have you got some time today to talk about the good lord of the rings?

And by the sounds of the article from Boti it implied IMO that becuase of low crowd numbers the long term future of the club is not g'teed.

Pretty sure you will find the church in question needs a loan to cover the purchase price and that all they need is the current tenant to cover the interest payments with the rent

No different to buying a house

Churches are untaxed organisations of fear and control. If you look at the history of the church its very comparable to Terrorist organisations we have today.

The fact our government allows this corruption and control to continue is disgusting. The fact the SA Government has not stepped in to assist basketball SA is just as disgusting and shows how pitiful this government really is when it comes to fair delegation of state funds.

CBA awaiting the outcome of their mission to bankrupt Eduardo.
No moves made unti that is done and they know how much cashish they can seek from the market
They sell before that then Eduardo can refute the sale for not maximising the sale price and not be liable for the shortfall.

skud your perspective on the church is incorrect - remember to define between man's actions and the principles of religions.

the power is our hands

Maybe if they were smart, a compromise could be struck between the parties to ensure the lowest possible purchase price.

Just saying . . .

I like Skud's theory on churches as terrorist groups.
So true, so true.

They control, they fear no one, they bully and dominate in packs.

A lot like governments.

Well that escalated quickly.

I can understand the feeling of vengefulness and anger towards churches in general because one of those fancy shmancy new-age churches wants to buy the Arena, but I wouldn't relate them to terrorist organisations lol

It's just unfortunate there's a lot of people (lonely and/or cashed up?) out there who can put forward big donations for the expansion of the church instead of for the expansion of basketball :(

Basketball IS my religion.

Sorry KET perhaps it was a bit much..but the hundreds of thousands raped pillaged and murdered in the name of the 12th crusades leave me with a very small group they can be compared with!

You forget the raping that still goes on in churches now, that they manage to cover up with government assistance

I'm no fan of organised religion, but it's probably fair to consider those as separate issues - that is reporting obligations of church employees, and taxing of all businesses whether they're religious or not.

Back on topic - Boti seems confident that a friend to basketball will be the one in control in time. The Shahins have long been mentioned in this context, so maybe this is finally the time.
