NG going green and gold
have it on very good authority that Darren Ng is heading back to Woodville for the upcoming ABL season.
Sabres will be bottom dwellers this year as they blood their young guns.

Just out of interest - a few years ago, Sturt U/14 Boys won the Nationals. Clearly that was a strong squad and I recall it had a few country lads in the team. How many of that squad still play and how many went on to a higher level basketball?

3 playing ABA
1 playing college
2 drafted to AFL
4 not playing
And Ingles13, isn't your BFF a Sturt Junior?

Spinner:
John Marriott, Nathan Kareta and Max Calligeros are playing ABL for Sturt.
Josh Owen-Thomas is playing college ball in Canada & playing for British underage national sides. If he comes back to Adelaide I'm sure he'll play for Sturt.
Luke Davis is on the Essendon Bombers AFL list.
Nathan Ahmat-Watkins had some look ins at AFL clubs but didn't quite make it.
Adam Shearwood & Chris Waye I don't think are playing.
I remember playing against these guys, but that's all I can remember. Might be a couple of others in the team.

You'd expect any team that losses T Daly (Woollacott, Allstar), NG (former Woollacott Medallist), Klaosen (Allstar), Wright (backup) & Kareta (backup) to suffer a decent dip in results. May be worse is S Daly also leaves for greener pastures.
Loosing the brains trust of Flynn and Butler is also problematic.

Woodville men have a lot of money nowadays after the genocide of the womens and girls program.

Terrific to see Dr Ng going back to his original basketball roots & return to the club which started his basketball career!

Does Woodville have any others moving to them?
Are there any other movements to other clubs?
Good to see the senior development of many clubs was to allow Sturt to develop players as juniors and for those clubs to save the money on junior development to "attract" players away from Sturt!

I remember seeing that U14 Nationals Final (against Dandenong?) at Starplex that Surt won.
Josh Owen-Thomas was best on court. Had 2 -3 players on him as the point guard bringing up the ball at times - played the whole match and can only remember 1 turnover and he was top scorer.
Saw him play a few years later, did'nt quite seem to be the same player, was a bit reluctant to take shots.

K so that being true, he made all the state teams playing for woodville, won junior championships playing for woodville, won the classics playing for woodville and got picked up for the sixers playing for woodville... and both his brothers played juniors for woodville.....Adelaide southern did heaps....

Cry me a river Woodville. Great that a player has returned to a club he mainly played at as a junior but save us the rhetoric and spend some money on your junior girls before you drown in your own tears.

#822, come back when you have a whole heap of players with achievements worth crowing about. What Darren achieved was fantastic but when he's the only one worth mentioning...well it doesn't say much about your joke of a club does it? Maybe spend less time hanging around here with your inferiority complex and more time actually being proactive by doing something to fix your club.
To get back on topic, good luck Darren! A lot of people will be pleased that you are going back.

Vesta,
I think you are selling Woodville short. They are being pro-active: they are head hunting talent which other clubs have developed for Seniors/U23 and then the coaches bask in the success!

why does their always seem to be this fixation with woodville and women teams - the damage been done - by previous coaches and admin.not one game played this year. past history if club gets players to club and rebuilding in any way it vccan thats sutely positive. grapes are green sour grapes but do ripen eventually. NG returns and thats turned negative FFS take the other tack leavibg a club is a negative as well.
2 negatives no postives.all the experts of how. no wonder baskwetball going backwards. Sixers get slagged by same negatves experts. you guys need to see a doctor get some positives into your view of life.or do something.

There was a thread at the end of last ABL season about which ABL team had the most juniors still representing their club. Sturt men had comfortably more than everyone else with every player on the ABL team except Darren being a Sturt Junior.
Having said that .. it looks to be a rough year for the sabres without Daly, Klaosen and Ng. Though the year before they lost Warbout and Holmes and still made the GF so who knows!

Depressing, you reap what you sow and woodville's infighting to gain control has cost the club the women's side of it. No matter how you look at it,at present no parent is going to move to the green and gold and that will continue for a few years. The men have had all the resources for years and the committee is made up of ego and self interest. I will applaud you when you spend time and effort in all sections of your club, remove the men who blocked magic and spend money on a junior program not just use titles to pay players .The fixation as you call it on the women's side is because you have no junior girls and you are buying seniors instead of creating a junior program.
