Seattle to get a NBA team back?
Looks like Seattle may be getting a team back after the proposed Sacramento sale. But is it the Kings that Seattle want or are they still yearning for their Super Sonics...

Im a Sonics fan, and obviously we want the Sonics back.. but when the Kings move they will use the Sonics name and logo so Im happy with that. The only thing left I would like from the past is Durant!

Would they be called the Sonics though? I thought OKC had the rights to the Super Sonics franchise.

I remember from SonicsGate that OKC even owns all the championships, accolades etc. ever won by the Super Sonics franchise.

Relocation and renaming is usually straightforward.
The upcoming New Orleans Pelicans, are the old...
New Orleans Hornets, who are the old...
New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, who are the old...
New Orleans Hornets, who are the old...
Charlotte Hornets.
The Sacramento Kings, are the old...
Kansas City Kings, who are the old...
Kansas City-Omaha Kings, who are the old...
Cincinnati Royals, who are the old...
Rochester Royals.
But even though The Oklahoma City Thunder, are the old...
Seattle SuperSonics, it's a little different since the settlement terms of a lawsuit between the city of Seattle and Clay Bennett’s ownership group.
They stipulate that the Seattle SuperSonics’ banners, trophies and retired jerseys remain in Seattle.
The nickname, logo, and color scheme are available to any subsequent NBA team.
The Seattle SuperSonics’ franchise history will be shared with the renamed Oklahoma City Thunder.

The only way Seattle gets a team is through relocation. After the NBA gave a team to Charlotte the NBA made it clear that they were pretty much done with expansion.

Reignman for sure!!! Best game dunker in League history!! The Sonics are sorely missed in Seattle. It's bad that they have to take another team but if that has to happen then so be it. At least GP and Kemp will get their Numbers Retired.

It's Kemp’s and Payton’s city, but not their team.
The new Seattle team (formerly the Sacramento Kings)
oughta officially name themselves the Seattle Sonics
to distinguish themselves from the Seattle SuperSonics (their official name).
Kemp’s and Payton’s Seattle SuperSonics
relocated to Oklahoma City and were renamed the
Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Seattle Sonics (formerly the Sacramento Kings)
would rock new green and gold unis and logos
(influenced by the Seattle SuperSonics) and
Kemp and Payton would get their numbers retired
by the Seattle Sonics for their basketball accomplishments in the city of Seattle.

What about the rhetoric coming out of Seattle saying they didn't want to "steal" another city's franchise since they didn't want to put another fanbase through what they went through?
I thought the talk was Sacto was relocating to Virginia Beach...
You won't see the Kings go to Seattle.

The article I read said that Clay Bennett left the Name, logo and history with the city of Seattle
.
