Didn't see any games but the results will fuel the BigV vs D-league team debate.
8 mens games, 7 where a BigV side matched up on a d-league side. The only D-league sides to pick up wins were Dandenong - smashed Hawthorn, and Kilsyth, who got Melbourne by 10.
Very different picture in the women's where the d-league sides on the whole pumped their BigV equivalents. 6 of the d-league groups recording wins, including Ballarat belting Hume City, Kilsyth smashing Geelong and Dandenong all over DV.
Of course, the sides, being under age teams on the whole, should look very different from last year to this.

So much for D-League being too good for Big V Youth, from what i've seen it looks like the opposite, plus theres 9 Big V and 7 D-league in the comp.
Diamond Valley looked good last night even without easily the best player in this competition Matt Jackson (ankle injury I have heard). Beat a gritty Knox squad featuring a couple of their SEABL bench players.
Every year its different, and if some teams have College players who may have to leave for summer school in USA..or have returning players from college the make up could be completely different
What you may call SEABL bench players coming down, others may say D league players filling the empty seats on a SEABL team that is only ever going to use the other 7 players

It seems Nunawading women are playing very few of there own girls ,which shocks me when they have a team of girls thats lost vc under 18 grand final 2012.
Why get girls in from else where when you have a great junior programe that is doing great,
Shame Nunawading you should look around at other clubs and open your eyes, for the likes of dandy, bulleen, melbourne, sandringham, kilsyth, bendigo,
ballarat, frankston and others that are using there own home grown girls and having a crack, maybe they might have beaton melbourne on weekend with there home grown girls ????????.
