Sydney Kings sign Allen, Gleeson & Armour

Continuing their impressive rebuild of the playing roster, the Sydney Kings are happy to announce that Shaun Gleeson and Kyle Armour will wear the famous purple and gold in the 2013/2014 National Basketball League season.

The 27 year old Gleeson, a 189cm point guard, has been signed to play the vitally important role as backup to the Kings' new import floor leader Jesse Sanders; the 24 year old Armour, who stands at 183cm and also plays the point guard position, comes in as a short-term replacement for Sydney’s injured Co-Captain Ben Madgen.

Good to see them giving a couple of outsiders a go rather recycling the same old faces.

I assume Allen is going to be back up C, surely they wouldnt start him.

Kings going with

Ogilvy/Allen
?import pf/sf/Garlepp
Harvey/Hill
Madgen/White
Sanders/Gleeson

If Madgen doesnt miss too much and comes back in good form, no one else gets injured and imports are atleast as good as last years they could be ok and even sneak into the playoffs, but if things dont go perfectly could fall away quickly, unless we see a break out season from someone like Allen, which i wouldnt be banking on.

A very weak bench.. Perhaps the weakest in the league so far? I dont mind the starting 5 too much however.

I assume they will play like this until Madgen is back?
Ogilvy/Allen
?import pf/sf/Garlepp
Hill/White
Harvey/Armour
Sanders/Gleeson

Armour too small to start at SG and Gleeson will likely need to stay at PG to assist Sanders as he gets used to the league. Harvey can play SG while Hill stays at his current position. Shit bench though once Madgen returns: Gleeson, Allen and White will all struggle.

Sydney is a great fit for ben allen. Plenty of nightclubs and guys to share hair care tips with. Between him and aj its going to be an all-nbl mr softee front court.

Daly did try out for the Hawks last season, didn't make the roster obviously. But Gordie & Heal have both been really impressed with him and if he didn't injury his toe during scrimmage the other week, I dare say the Kings would have signed him.

Good to see the young guys getting their chance. Heal was very young when he started.

Does anyone know how many player points Shaun Gleeson and Kyle Armour are worth?

At least Hammer knows what he's getting into. He coached Ben Allen at Ipswich last QBL season, and got him playing relatively well.

Oh well, it will feel good to boo Ben Allen when he is playing for the opposition for once. Booing your own players leaves you feeling hollow inside...
