Tigers confirm Worthington signing, release Rush

Although everyone already knew this had taken place, does anyone rate the tigers this year for a top 4 spot?

In further roster movements the Tigers have released Liam Rush from his playing contract to pursue further playing opportunities elsewhere. The club would like to thank Liam for his contribution in his time at the Melbourne Tigers. The clubs three available roster positions are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Worth on Twitter:

For Perth fans asking I was never approached by the cats only rob beveridge who ultimately was let go.
Not sure if it would've been the smartest short term signing anyway given their load at PF and SF.

Rush has apparently signed in Sweden according to Rhys Carter:
already signed with my old team in Uppsala, Sweden.

Finally...

I wonder if Rush was pushed or jumped?

Rush isn't that good of player so not surprised.. he and rhys carter will shine in Sweden where the league isn't nbl standard and will get good numbers, which will make players like this look better than they really are.

This worthington signing was coming for months. Is anyone really surprised?

Rush was pushed so that they can fit worthy in.all they need is imports .Antsey always takes his time when it comes to import players.

Any speculation as to who the imports may be?

So the Tigers roster is Tomlinson, Goulding, Odigie, Greer, Walker, Ballinger, Worthington right? Fair to say they'll get an import at the 1 spot. Will their second import be a 5 or a 2/combo guard?

My guess is the tigers will look like

Import/?? replacement for Burston
Ballinger/Walker
Worthington/Greer
Goulding/Odigie
Import/Tomlinson

(Could get a back up sg to replace burston, start Greer or Walker at sf/pf with Wortho and use Ballinger as back up pf/c aswell)

Pretty good, could be very strong if get the right imports.

Flynn a chance?

Are they still after Scott? I'm sure he's after a chunk of cash now.

D'Mac was out watching Calvin Henry from Mildura a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne. Not sure if this means anything or not.

Anstey tweeted that Seth Scott wanted too much and will not be back

I think it was obvious towards the end of last season that Scott wouldn't be back.

Tigers have already signed their import replacement anyway. He's a 5. New to the NBL.

Hope for Tigers fans sake it isn't Daniel Kickert.

note the words 'import replacement'

But agree... lets not lower the league to a level where Daniel kickert can get a job here. We already have Ben Allen

Someone has to put a frontcourt rotation of Kickert, Ogilvy, and Allen together, and then bring in Andrea Bargnani as an import. Please.

YouKnowMe, you're not serious right? Kickert averaged 18 & 6 in a decent European comp last year and shot 46% from long range! He mightnt be an NBL star but he could certainly be a solid contributor, a little bit in the Oscar Forman mould.

Wonder if he can get ANY player votes for Captaincy or is it an appointment by the Coach?
Just doesn't have a clue that he is not popular or a good leader. He'll get the job tho.
