Eastern Mavs u18G Classics Champions!

Eastern Mavericks under 18 Girls team has convincing defeated Sturt in the Final at the Melbourne classics. Leading by 14 at 3/4 time, Mavericks won by around 20.

Coached by SA Coaching Director Neil Gliddon, this team defied many critics to take the title, the first SA title since 1999. (Okay, technically only since 10am when Wayne Beaumont's Sturt 12 Girls won, but before that it was 1999.)

Congratulations to Neil, and the girls!!!

Cayla Francis played awesome in the grand final and is very clear that there isn't anyone out there at the moment that can stop her..well deserved MVP..keep it up!

whoa....massive effort...well done to Mavs and bad luck to sturt...who would have thought an SA grand final....hope that next years is just as successful...and if this is any indication of SA basketball...more people should be getting out to see the games! :)

Well deserved win by very under-rated side. But does help with a inform Tess Madgen. Yes Cayla is a very important cog in the side, but Tess in her own right a very up and coming player and still Under 16!!!!!! The whole side is a very competetive unit. Lets not forget Crase, Whitehead, Hodges etc who make up the side that without them wouldnt have gone close. Neil has done a good job with them.Everyone needs to know that there is more than one player that wins a game. Well done girls and you should be very proud and enjoy the moment.
