Woodcutting beats basketball?

I can't believe Channel 10/1 does not want to show basketball but is happy to show off the US Woodcutting Championships in a nice afternoon timeslot.

When did basketball fall below woodcutting as a viewer sport?

Channel 10/1 does show basketball, and pays a lot more for it than it does for woodchopping.

From a net revenue point of view: yes, woodcutting beats basketball.

I was thinking that myself but maybe it was shown (2004) because it had a Sydney boy winning the day.

In answering questions above... With the new season imminent why not show us exciting games from last year like when Madgen threw a chair and hit the ref... Was a ripping game that one!

ONE HD should be using last seasons footage to get new punters watching for this year.

Maybe getting Andrew Gaze to do a couple of half hour episodes on greatest NBL moments (that Channel ten have the rights to) in Drewy's opinion... Could start up debate on here and make us excited if we weren't already for season 2013/14

ONE/ten expect nobody to be watching anyway

Woodchopping is actually pretty popular in Australia. As far as sports rankings I would say:

1. AFL
2. NRL
3. Cricket
3. Soccer
4. Woodchopping
5. Racing - V8/F1
6. Golf
7. Basketball
8. Water Polo

Not even close:

1. Footy
2. Rugby
3. Cricket
4. Tennis
5. Netball
6. Soccer
7. Racing
8. Basketball
9. Golf
10. Woodchopping?

Probably to low on your one anon. Personally I think woodcutting would be either the 5th or 6th most popular sport in Australia.

Some sports not mentioned which I would rate above woodchopping are; swimming, athletics, gymnastics, skiing, skating, bowling, hockey, la-cross, par-core, horse racing/riding, chess, dancing (with or without the pole), hunting, fishing and one of my personal fav's bird watching...

I was adding to the joke (because you can't go past synchronised swimming when mentioning boring sports) and then saw your use of hyphens in consecutive words so I wrote that.

I actually don't mind the old synchronised swimming, it's come a long way...

woodcuts.com.au would be reeling at this woodcutting bashing thread. the woodcutting sport has definetely grown and is huge in Melbourne. probably the 6th biggest sport in the metro area.
