SEABL watch round 16
Mt Gambier Pioneers 94 d Knox Raiders 89.
Finally, the Pioneers get back in the winners' circle after a hard-fought win. Chris Mason (34min, 10pts, 8reb) was solid, whilst Jason Williams (25min, 6pts, 4 reb) did enough to show he's slowly getting over a nasty dose of the flu.
Hobart Chargers 93 d AIS 74.
The Nash-juggernaut rolls on, with 24pts @ 60%, 12reb, 2blk in 37min. The AIS only suited 7 players, with Brad Hill (15pts @ 23%, 8reb, 3blk, 2stl in 43min) providing some resistance. The AIS were 30% from the field as a team (ouch!). For Libertine's sake, the Stephen Weigh report shows he started and had 4pts @ 20%, 3reb in 38min.
AIS 110 d NW Tasmania Thunder 93.
An undermanned Thunder were no match for the 7 youngsters from Bruce, with Brad Hill's 23pts/6rebs in 34 min showing he will be something special. (Does anyone know where Ingles is?) The Stephen Weigh report shows he started again at fwd and had 9pts @ 36%, 8reb in 38min.
In the second triple-OT game this year, Bendigo Braves 125 d Canberra Gunners 118.
Redhage (who trialled with the Wildcats during the week) had 38pts, 18reb in 58min! Panther's old running mate Sam Fotu had 31pts, 5reb in 54min .... and two other players (Novak and Harvey) played 53 and 54 min for Bendigo. Word this week that Rob Brown isn't returning either - wonder what that means for Townsville?
Frankston Blues 94 d Albury/Wodonga Border Bandits 82.
Eric Bradley had 21pts @ 50%, 20reb in 34min.
And that's it for the SEABL wrap this week. For those with a quiet Friday night this week, why not make the trip down to Mt Gambier take on the Big Easy's Bandits? I guarantee you there'll be a spare seat waiting for ya!
