Team USA World Cup

Team USA have named a 19 man squad - http://www.usab.com/mens/national/14_mnt_las_vegas_camp.html

If all players are fully fit who would you take to the world champs?

PG - Irving / Rose / Curry
SG - P. George / Harden
SF - Durant / Parsons
PF - Love / Griffin
C - A Davis / Cousins / Drummond

Missing out
Hayward / Thompson / Beal / Lillard / Korver / Faried / DeRozan

I think they'll start Durant at PF again.

Call me crazy, but that would be a very beatable team ^.

Not saying a team would beat them, but I am saying that a team would stand a better chance against this lineup.

I'd be taking Lillard over Irving.
Knows how to run a successful team and wouldn't be trying to take everyone on by himself like Irving.
IMO.

Given Rose's injurys and lack of recent play you could easily argue Lillard over Rose imo,

Yes this is a beatable team, not a heap of international experience. They will have to play right up to their potential to beat Spain in Spain.

If Durant plays as he did in 2010 they will still be very very hard to beat, but if he's down a little there could be some tough games in the knockout rounds.

Irving - kind of guy who would shoot them out of a game

Rose - injured/ hardly game ready

Harden - Feel free to take him. But good luck getting any kind of defence from a backcourt of Irving and Harden. Juan Carlos Navarro and other SGs will have a field day against him.

Durant - defending the four spot. Surely big, bruising PFs (Baynes) could exploit him at this position. (LBJ could play the 4 very well at FIBA comps because he had the added muscle and could bang down low)

Love - Not a very good defender either.

Parsons - A one-dimensional shooter?

George - Always risky taking a guy to the FIBA scene for the first time. He is a great NBA player - but you never know..he could struggle to adapt in the FIBA Game.

Why is Lebron not playing?

An eclectic mix of isolation offence and adequate defence

They usually give the younger ones a run in World Cup hence why LBJ is not playing.

That's a very beatable team. They're going to have to play well to beat Spain.

MACDUB, Durant played plenty of PF in 2010, I expect it to be the same in Spain. The mismatch he has against bigger players is nearly impossible to cover out to the perimeter and at the rim, whereas team defence, zoning and trapping can cover post mismatches.

I expect George to play a bit of PF too as Carmelo Anthony and James have done in the past.

PG. Curry, Lillard, Irving
SG. Harden, Thompson
SF. Durant, George
PF. Love, Griffin
C. Davis, Drummond, Cousins

Hayward, Parsons, Beal, Korver, Rose, DeRozan, Faried miss out

I think either Thompson or Korver will make the team as a specialist shooter leaning towards the youth of Thompson.

Would start KD at the 4 but not possible with so many quality bigs unless they swap Cousins/Drummond with another guard or forward.

This team isn't the best, but won't lose, GOLD

Spain have a definite chance of beating this team. They seem to be pretty defensively weak.

Looking at past teams my guess would be something like:

PG. Lillard, Irving
SG. Curry, Harden, Thompson
SF. George, Korver
PF. Durant, Griffin, Parsons
C. Love, Davis

Drummond might be a chance to play that Chandler role too.
