NBA vs NBL game could help the league?

Am I the only one here that believes having a NBA team vs NBL Allstars game could revive the league? Like do it before the preseason with lot's of promotion of the NBL during the game? Maybe it could lure in broadcasters in for the game and maybe pick up the NBL with it?

I think a better promotion would be to send an Aussie NBL/Euro team to NBA summer league. Get a FTA to show on TV during a decent hour.

Both ideas could and should happen! Surely it wouldnt be that hard for the NBL or Basketball Australia to throw together a team of players between the ages of 18-25 who aren't in the NBA or going to college for a bit of a showcase in the summer league.

It would garner a lot of Aussie interest and could lead to bigger things.

Aussie teams were meant to be going to Summerleague. But the NBL, as it does, Fkd that right up.

This thread looks recycled but the point is the NBL doesn't appear capable of putting this together. Can't see it happening

bogut has been pushing for an nba game to be played in australia as they do in europe but admits we are a victim of our own love for the game. ie we are massive followers of the nba the nba doesnt see much gain in coming here. they already have a solid following.

If that were true they wouldn't go to China and Europe, from where they get far more return than Australia. I would say it's more to do with the lack of population and corporate dollars here.

Let's say that it was to happen then the NBA players would throw a tantrum after every call as they won't be protected like they are in the NBA and our referees like to influence games .

I'm not sure it would be the best promotion but if you can get a team here lacking an ego then it could work.

I'd love to have a McDonalds challenge type company again pitting the best champion teams against each other... They were always fun and fascinating

Change of philosophy required!!

Forget about trying to help the NBL. The NBL needs to forget about trying to help the NBL also. The focus MUST be on providing the best possible entertainment and quality ball, then the people will come, the TV deal will sort it self out etc.

MORE teams in the major cities (FORGET THE REGIONALS), 3 x Melb teams, 2 x Syd, 2 x Perth, 2 x Adelaide, 1 x Tas, 1 x Bris. More STUD imports. More HYPE!! Advertising, promoting.

You'll never sell a boring, shit product to the masses. To take the next step the NBL needs to take a chance. Bring the stud imports, bring in the rivalries and excitement, bring in the BIG men, bench the small boys and the people will come. Aussies love being entertained with world class product.

Forget the Amateur hour way we've been running our national comp for way too long and go big.

Australian Boomers V an NBA team would be very, very interesting.

3 game series, played at Hisense, Sydney Entertainment Centre and Perth Arena

NBL All-Stars would get smashed by an NBA team as there would be no chemistry.

It has to be NBA team vs NBL team or NBA vs NBA.

Or do both.

Boomers also a problem as most players would pull out as all are with different clubs and commitments vary.
