WNBL Rookie of the Year: Alex Ciabattoni

Alex Ciabattoni has earned the Wattle Valley WNBL Betty Watson Rookie of the Year award for 2015/16 in her debut season with the Adelaide Lightning.

As voted by coaches and captains, the award is for players competing in their first or second year of the WNBL and they must be Australian and under 21 years of age.

Ciabattoni earned 38 votes from a possible 54, beating team mate Morgan Yaeger and Chloe Molloy from the Melbourne Boomers.

Happy that Alex won but thought Morgan Yaeger had a more consistent year.
Her (Alex) form faded in the 2nd half of the season.
Yaeger is a future Opal, hopefully she keeps developing at Oregon and gets some decent mins.

Wehrung was not a rookie this season. She played a significant role for the caps last season.
