Game 2: 36ers vs Hawks in Darwin

Tonight I think? Drmic out with a minor injury last night but is expected to play at least a few minutes tonight. Game is 7:30.

Hopefully both sides have ironed out a bit of rust and will put on a better game tonight. Expecting the 36ers to take a reasonably easy victory honestly but pre-season so you never know

36ers 80, Hawks 65.
Ferguson 15, Hodgson 11, Sobey, Johnson, Creek 9.
Kay 12 & 13, Coenraad 12, Forman 8.

36ers suited all 11 players, though minimal minutes for a few. Hawks sat Ogilvy and were without three imports and White. Both teams shared the minutes.

Randle and Drmic barely played. Jacobsen had 4 fouls in under 9 minutes.

Glover played 21:49 for Illawarra. Has taken a week off high school to play in Darwin!

Any reason Randle didn't play much? Or just precautionary?

Unless the 36ers are trying to play some odd from of mind games or running some random plays, this shouldve been a very big 36er win. Early days, but nothing AT ALL to be excited about here.

It's a pre season junket. Nothing more.

Random at no more than 20% of his normal.

Jacobson is an upgrade on peach although his foul count will take a while to control. Joey gave a lot of talks to him tonight on keeping himself available in the game.

Pride at stake on Saturday should help ticket sales. 1 a piece is good for media for the next 2 days.

I never understand the idea that guys will eventually get their foul count down. Maybe some guys are and will always be foul prone. Not saying Jacobsen is, but you can talk to some of these guys as much as you want, they arent ever trying to foul, they just do. Think Jacobsen needed to be someone a little bit more high calibre, but apparently Adelaide is broke yada yada.

It's like every other facet of the game really... some guys will never improve, others will. There are basic fundamental things that will stop guys picking up fouls, but it takes the right mindset & discipline. Plus not being an import over 6'6 helps, too. ;)

With fouling in particular, merely adjusting to the way the game is called in different leagues is an issue. So there's more reason to expect improvement in that regard than some others.

Yep, much greater chance of improvement if a player's just arrived here than if they've been foul prone in the NBL for a number of years.
