Big V 2017 pre-season thread

So most teams would have had their tryouts and done their recruiting by now.

-What are some of the moves and signings confirmed around the leagues for 2017?

-Who looks like the teams to beat so far?

Watched the Kelior vs Mckinnon yesterday.
Wow Mckinnon aren't looking the best, yes with out there import but they just looked old. They were exposed by Chuck Long playing the centre and Spencer all over the court defensively.
Mckinnon can't use an excuse they were down an import when Kelior is a division 1 team and only allowed 1 import and Mckinnon had Maybank now playing as a local.

Recently had the chance to see some teams play and will get to see some more soon enough.

Blackburn men look okay for their division but may lack depth in their big man area and team discipline will have to be well led. Coach knows his stuff but tends to get a little carried away at perceived bad calls, his team then starts to whinge too much at times.

Eltham still have their twin towers, so if they can get off to a good start they should be a finals contender IMHO.

Hawthorn are small and young, mid table maybe for them but also an eye to the future.

Corio Bay men will look to an aging veteran and their imports as they have lost their starting centre and a shooting guard, also a new coach, maybe mid table drop for them this season as they re-adjust.

Geelong's men look stronger this year and have improved its shooting options, if they can play as a team they have had a couple of retirements but the replacements appear to be more than capable, finals are in the picture IMO.

Ringwood beat diamond valley and nunawading on the weekend, looking strong again although new imports will be interesting.

McKinnon/Keilor game was a good hit out for both teams. FYI Big J, McKinnon had 5 of their team missing so not a true indication of their team on Sunday...

I heard Maybank has been banned from playing as a local by the Big V CEO. Any truth to this?

Loads of players are caught out by this. Big V is going to have to relent and allow them to play

Going on there advertising for there preseason games against chargers and a Launceston local team this weekend it looks like they were only down Stith. Dench played all the first half looked really old and started the 3rd before being benched. Ivan played, walker and Maybank played. To me if all healthy that's 4/5's your championship men's starting 5.
There bigs exposed by athletic high post offence, Mckinnon sat in a very zone defence because they became exposed.

^ BigJ, trust me - without naming names there are 5 players still to come into their roster. Three that played against Keilor will not be suiting up in SCM this season...

I trust Keilor enjoys a solid season this year, they looked good...
